What’s Cooking With Wallace and Gromit?

wallace and gromit 300x200 Whats Cooking With Wallace and Gromit?I should have been born in Britain. Because even a fairly derivative Wallace and Gromit flick is going to leave me giggling on the couch.

Enter Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death. The new short film is the first from favorite clay-mated dog and dimwit combination since their feature-length Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

It’s no wonder it’s had die hard fans salivating. Enter the good news . . . and the bad news. The storyline is ho hum – the duo’s home is now a bakery, and a baker-killer is on the loose. So is it any wonder Gromit will spend the entirety of the flick taking care that his baking buddy doesn’t end up on the wrong side of a kitchen knife?

Like most web commentors, I found the story awfully close to Wallace’s last shave with love. Bad news for W&G fans. But like A Close Shave, the film itself is pure Wallace and Gromit – and that’s the good news. Because kids love the good-hearted Wallace and his smarter half, and A Matter of Loaf and Death offers another glimpse at friendship, silliness and other kid pleasers.

Taking my Wallace and Gromit fan cap off and replacing it with the parent hat, the biggest fault with Loaf and Death is the length – at around half an hour, you’ll be watching the same story over and over and over to sate their appetites for their across-the-pond favorite.
