Holy shit. I knew Mackenzie was effed up, but her father totally did a mindfuck on her if she has come to call her victimization… her RAPE… consensual. If this is some step in the healing process I don’t know about, then I don’t wanna know.

I dont believe a word out of the mouth of a heroin addict with a 35 year habit who is out of a job. She would do anything to make money and this baloney sells her book. Before this peopel looked down on her for her arrest for dope last year, now they feel sorry for her and will buy her book. The guy is dead and cannot even defend himself.

Anyone who suggests that Mackenzie Phillips, because she is a drug addict, cannot be trusted, is capable of anything, etc. also must remember that Mackenzie Phillips father was also addicted to drugs and, therefore, was also not to be trusted, capable of anything,etc. What she is saying is grotesque and it is tempting to discount it as an attempt to sell books and garner sympathy because it is so grotesque-we don’t want to believe that a father would do this to his daughter. But the sad fact is that there are sick men who do this to their children and they oftentimes get away with it because the children keep the abuse secret and others ignore the signs because they do not want to believe it is true. Part of the healing process for victims of incest is to break the silence and speak out. And when they do reveal their awful secret, it is quite common for people to accuse them of lying (especially people whose job it was to protect the child, the people who failed to protect the child). Although it is impossible to know the absolute truth, all the evidence seems to indicate that Mackenzie Phillips is telling the truth–her doctors knew, her siblings have known, and her step-mothers are coming out and swearing it can’t be true, that they could never have married a man who would do this, that they could never have failed to protect their step-daughter.
