New Breast Pump Lets You Do It With Your Clothes On

freemie New Breast Pump Lets You Do It With Your Clothes OnNow there’s a headline that titillates! Alas the real story is just aching to be milked by moms.

Forget the hands-free breast pump. That innovation is so last month’s hot mommy blogging news. The new must have: a pump that lets you keep your clothes on while you’re making milk.

The Freemie comes from a physician who also happens to be a mother. Dr. Stella Dao’s twins were premies, which meant a whole lot of pumping was going on in the early weeks of their lives.

But as a physician who went back to work at four months post-partum, she faced what most working mothers do – no place to pump, and no time to do it. And – bad for her but good for the rest of us – she had all those feelings of guilt that the rest of us experience, fearing the milk is going to dry up, that working isn’t working out.

So she came up with the Freemie, which is both hands-free (yay!) and electric (woot!). It’s also bottle free – taking out the bulk that makes pumping while doing much of anything near impossible. The cups fit into a regular bra, and is said to hold up to four ounces of milk.

Considering it still needs to be attached to an electric pump (there’s a list of compatible set-ups already on the market), don’t expect women to be walking the halls of your office and pumping anytime soon.

But where this type of innovation is huge for women – even huger than the first hands-free systems – is the fact that it takes pumping out of the dank supply closet and puts it into the boardroom, cubicle or front desk. People can hear the pump (listen to the standard noise in an interview with Dr. Dao), but women can keep their clothes on.

And considering how much time we ladies spend fighting for the right to keep our clothes on, it’s nice to feel like a regular old human being sometimes.

This is brilliant! Our family is planning our next baby and already figured out how to avoid the cost and guilt (on my part) of having a newborn in daycare when I went back to work. We hadn’t figured out how our baby would continue to drink breastmilk when my breasts were at work as I loathe pumping in a bathroom! Excellent invention!

Pretty awesome if you’ve got the 3-4 hundred to invest. Alas us poor chics are left out in the cold again.

Very cool! Totally worth it to be hands free and keep my shiirt on. I just rent a good pump. I know its kinda like leasing a car, but sure beats the price of formula.

Well the actal collection kit is only 69.95 so I think it’s worth it! Sure you have to buy a pump too but there is no price on convenience!

Too bad it’s limited to one standard size. I would totally buy one but it’s about 10mm too small for me.

Can’t picture everything on my mind regarding that breast pump. It seems very difficult to pump like that. Got mine from Simple Wishes:
