Morning News – Al-Qaeda Behind Iraq Attacks
General Charles Jacoby, the second-highest ranked officer in Iraq, told a group of reporters the following: “In the period that we’re looking at right now, post-30 June, I consider most of the attacks, the high-profile attacks that you are seeing and that are getting the publicity, are Al-Qaeda attacks.” This is not good.
But let’s focus on really important things here at home. Like name-calling.
If you want to see what life is like in an alternate reality, check out Congressman Joe Wilson’s Twitter page. “Stand with me against liberal attacks”? It gets even better at his website, where he claims that said attacks are “because of my opposition to their policies, especially government-run healthcare.” It has nothing to do with yelling “liar” at the President of the United States. Oh, and they’ve had the nerve to run ads in his home district. Ads! NEGATIVE ads! The horror! But you can help. How? By giving Joe Wilson your money! Here’s a video:
So, you know, if you love America and don’t want to hand it over to the commies, the best thing you can do is give Joe Wilson your money. So he can fight back against all of the people who are attacking him. Like I said, alternate universe. Bizarro World. (Evil Kirk!)
Back to actual reality. The AP is reporting that some Democrats are willing to be flexible with regards to the “public option” in whatever health care plan eventually passes. And some Democratic lawmakers are now predicting that they will pass health care legislation this year. Oh HO! (I should point out that I am not saying that the plan on the table is a good one. I do think that it would be good if everyone in America had health care. But it’s a complex issue that can’t be explained by nonsense like “they are trying to take away our freedom and kill our nation’s elderly.”)
Today is September 11th. Andrew Card, the man who was the White House Chief of Staff in 2001, recalls how he told President George W. Bush that the country was under attack. That was eight years ago. Hard to believe.
But hey, Glenn Beck found a way to make money from the worst attack ever on American soil. But really, he’s just doing it for you. And by “for you” I mean “for himself.” Check out the 9/12 Project for more. Because really, it’s all about Glenn Beck. Just ask him.
One piece of good news — one shot of the swine flu vaccine may be enough. It’s not clear yet when it will be available, but when it is there should be more than enough to protect all “high-risk” folks, which includes, I think, parents. So roll up your sleeve and get your arm ready. You’re getting a shot. Well, if you have health insurance you are. (You might be able to get one even if you don’t, but I had to say something.)
