Since we all hope our kids love books just a teensy bit more, Babble’s got a list of new kids books that we think are “dino”mite to keep all that love alive.

I admit we’ve been a bit dino-crazy in my house of late – what with 7 Days of Dinosaurs on Droolicious and Dinosaur Train about to hit PBS. And so in true Martha Stewart mom mode (Lawd help me), I pulled together a pile of dinosaur books to keep the theme going. Here are her favorites:

Dinosaurs in the Round – A new pop-up book from Random House, set to hit shelves later this month (but available for pre-order from Amazon right now), you’ll open the hard cover to find three gorgeous 3-D dioramas of the dinosaur worlds. Those are good for any age, but slip the accompanying book from the inside pocket and the accompanying world of facts will take kids second grade on up on a fact-based and fascinating trip into prehistoric times. super hungry dinosaur 300x300 Read it and Roar These Books are DinomiteWith art by well-known paleoartist Luis V. Rey, it’s got the rare combination of looks and fact that makes a book rival a museum.

The Super Hungry Dinosaur by Martin Waddell – A silly send-up of scary dinosaur tales, this brand new book from the author of favorite Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear? casts the dinosaur as a hungry beast whose belly must be tamed. And who better to do it than quick witted Hal, hero of his family and dinosaur tamer extraordinaire? The most fun of this book is reading it aloud – GRRRRRR to you too!

how do dinosaurs go to school Read it and Roar These Books are DinomiteHow do Dinosaurs Go to School by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague – No dino list is complete without a pick from the partners who have kept kids up to date on all the polite dino habits for the past decade. The back-t0-school addition to a line that already covers how the prehistoric set “says good night,” “learn their colors,” and “play with their friends,” is a fun way to remind tots to be on their best behavior when they’re out from under your roof.

The Dinosaur Tamer by Carol Greathouse: A fresh approach to the Wild West tales, little Rocky cut his teeth on dino bones and he’s the rootin’ tootin’-est dino wrangler in the land. His conquest? The mighty T. Rex, natch. A goofy story for kids who can’t decide whether they want to be cowboys or paleontologists when they grow up, The Dinosaur Tamer will hit shelves next month, but you can pre-order it now at Amazon.

What are your kids’ favorite dinosaur books?

My son is a huge dinosaur fan (it’s hilarious hearing a toddler say all of those complicated names) and one of his favorites is Dinosaurumpus.
