090828024916 Kenny%20Jackson Gangster Dad Beats 4 Year Old Son for Wearing Rival Gang ColorRecently I reported on a couple throwing down in a video store over which gang their toddler should join. Now comes more evidence that gang members don’t make the best parents.

Kenny T. Jackson, a 30-year-old member of the St. Paul chapter of the Bloods (?) and father, ripped the shirt off his 4-year-old son and smacked the boy because the shirt was blue, dad’s rival gang’s color.

Jackson faces a gross misdemeanor charge. When police arrived another boy told them Jackson “whooped” his son and two other little boys, all for wearing blue. Police later found Jackson hiding in the trunk of a car.

Sadly the incident will probably just push the kid to become a Crip.

Or maybe, just maybe the kid will get the opportunity to break out of the cycle of violence he was born into through no fault of his own? Nah, let’s make a joke that a four-year old will end up a gangbanger like his daddy… (eyeroll)

wow mistress, taking things a little seriously this morning? obviously this story is upsetting and the hope would be that the kid would get an opportunity to break free of such an ugly cycle, but as observers of the world if we don’t create some humor from depressing news (a.k.a. just about everything on the nightly news and in the newspapers) we’d all in up huddled in the corner rocking back and forth crying because of how ridiculously not cool the world is.

Oh, my apologies, I didn’t see the humor in a kid getting smacked up by his dumbass dad for a dumbass reason. Guess I didn’t get my daily dose of sunshine blown up my butt today. My bad.

I’ve got sunshine if you have a funnel.

Actually, there is a lot of truth to this “joke”. Victims of child abuse are more likely to abuse their own children. There is no reason to believe the negative reinforcement of this gangsta father’s abuse wouldn’t absolutely turn the son off to joining a gang later. Very likely the opposite may be true, especially because gangs appeal to youths who come from troubled backgrounds and hold a deep sense of weakness that the “family” of a gang can assuage.

The reason comedy exists is to express the very most horrible truths in a way that doesn’t make us want to put a gun to our collective heads.

I find it very telling that this guy could beat up on a 4 year old, and then go hide in the trunk of a car. What a coward.

True Greer’s mum. I wonder if the dad will step up a rank in his gang once the other members find out he smack a group of toddlers and then hid in the trunk of the car. What a wuss for a gang banger

I get comedy and why, Cole. I’m down with many a joke and a cutting sense of humor, even laughing to keep from crying, but didn’t feel like the joke was funny. I guess there’s no reason for you to believe the apple wouldn’t fall too far from the tree. I mean, the stats back you up… the likelihood is that this kid will amount to nothing more than his father. But it’s that monolithic thinking, treating people as forgone conclusions and not individuals, that gives rise to writing off whole swaths of the population as not worth resources. Maybe I’ve been reading a little too much lately about how good and decent people come to those conclusions, and it generally starts with a caviler attitude.

I’m loving the debate and Mistress_Scorpio you’re one of our favorite commenters here so allow me to capitulate by saying I didn’t mean for my comment to become generalized social policy. Don’t let my snarky remark fool you into thinking I am a profiler of human behavior and champion of the status quo. I Hope this kid gets a break. And as far as making half-assed jokes, or what I like to call “humor lite” it’s hit or miss, just like life.

I enjoy a good debate too, but I’ll concede that I sound like someone totally pissed in my cornflakes. I’ma step away from the interwebs, go look at the sky and try and gain some perspective. Yeah, I hope this kid gets a break too.

This is awful. That dad sucks. I wasn’t able to see the humor in this one.

I would like to see him go to prison for a very long time. He’s just a low-life and the world is better off without him.
