Who Knew, An Abortion Clinic Story That’s Actually Funny
Pro-choice as I am, I can’t say an abortion clinic story ever made me giggle. Are you with me? Well get ready.
Because this Craigslist post about a woman on her way to the abortion clinic, captured via a screenshot and put up on I Am Hilarious is, well, hilarious!
Says the anonymous poster from South Austin, Texas:
I was having trouble finding the clinic Saturday morning, but then I saw you guys waving your signs around, and I knew exactly which exit to take.
I made it to my abortion with five minutes to spare. Keep up the good work!
Is that perhaps the best-ever example of “there’s no such thing as bad publicity?” Even if it’s a fake, they make an excellent point here – crazies waving giant signboards do attract plenty of attention.
So the next time you’ve got a delicate situation you might need “taken care of” (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), and you don’t know who in your hometown is down with that kind of thing . . . you can avoid the “crisis pregnancy center” that might try to talk you out of an abortion simply by checking their front door. No protesters? If you’re pro-choice, you might want to steer clear.
Angry mob? Well, then, pull right up.
By the way – this works in reverse for the pro-life set.

Rosana commented on Sep 02 09 at 2:55 pmI do not think is funny. I guess publicity does not work if you do not understand the message and only use what you want from it.
Mistress_Scorpio commented on Sep 02 09 at 3:43 pmI always have a reflex reaction to provoke groups of protesters. Using them for directions sounds about right. They’d really freak if I asked them where the drive up abortion window was.
Mary commented on Sep 02 09 at 4:47 pmThat isn’t funny. That makes me want to cry.
Bunny commented on Sep 02 09 at 5:08 pmThis is more common than you might think. I’d love for all those protestors to hear this story! Take that, jerks.

What happened to the “pro-choice” party line of wanting abortion to be leagal, accessible, and RARE? Pro-life or pro-choice, I thought we could all at least agree that abortion is not a happy event. But it’s just a big joke to you?
jeannesager commented on Sep 03 09 at 10:51 amNigelmoose – ever heard of sarcasm? Yes, I’m pro-choice but not a big fan of abortion (hence my lead – that I never thought an abortion story could be funny). But people really seem to be missing the big picture here!
nigelmoose commented on Sep 03 09 at 11:03 amOf course I’ve heard of sarcasm. I just don’t think certain topics are very joke-worthy I guess.
Bunny commented on Sep 03 09 at 12:46 pmNigel – there are plenty of people who don’t think abortion is particularly tragic, and that it should be “rare” because an unexpected pregnancy is a really unpleasant event and that surgery is expensive, no fun, and comes with the usual risks that any surgery entails (although less risks overall than childbirth). Under those circumstances, there’s no contradiction in finding it funny that protesters are getting the opposite effect they had hoped for – enabling abortions.
Marj commented on Sep 03 09 at 1:44 pmI gotta say, that’s actually pretty funny. About the protesters leading the way so to speak.

It’s dissociative to think this is funny
