Mom Questions Porn Star Sister’s Tuition Donations
If only I could be in this kind of predicament: a woman wrote a letter to Dear Abby this week asking if she had to accept her sister’s money to pay her kids’ college tuition.
Turns out the sister is a porn star, and Mom’s got a conscience – she doesn’t want her kids reaping the benefits of flicks she wouldn’t let them watch.
Good thing Abby (well, her daughter anyway – the faux Abigail Van Buren’s been gone for years because of a battle with Alzheimer’s, but daughter Jeanne! Phillips fills in these days) had the good sense to pull a Cher a la Moonstruck.
Yes, she told her to snap out of it because there’s no reason the kids should suffer (and miss out on college) because she’s having a fit of prudishness. In two years, she’s put away $25,000 per kid, and she’s willing to keep on contributing, putting forth a pretty penny for three kids in total.
My two cents? In this economy, someone is willing to give each of your kids $25,000 and you’re complaining? Heck, BEFORE the economy started to stink like my kid’s old sippy cups, I’d have taken a $25,000 fund set up no-strings for my child to go to college. And I’m not so sure I would have asked where it was coming from – at least not questioned it to this extent.
So it’s porn. Feh. It’s not like she’s peddling crack on the playground or running arms to Iran. It’s not something I want my daughter signing up for, but this is a grown woman. It’s her body. Her job. And she apparently doesn’t do too badly at it.
Would you turn your nose up at a free education for your kids?

As far as the porn money — I’d probably rationalize like crazy, and then take it.
