Rich or Rehab: What Happened to the Boy From the Madonna Video?

ng time ago, before Madonna started adopting kids — and certainly before her arms started looking all freaky like they do in this picture — the pop star sometimes danced with kids in her music videos. She did that perhaps most famously in the video for “Open Your Heart,” in which a young boy — who could pass for a youthful Leonardo DiCaprio — waits patiently for Madonna to finish her nightly peep show gig so the two can happily bust a few moves in the street.
Since we know for a fact that said young boy wasn’t actually DiCaprio, the question is: who was that kid, and whatever happened to him?
For starters, let’s refresh our memories with a peek at the “Open Your Heart” video:
Cute kid, right? His name was Felix Howard, and he was a 13-year-old boy from the UK when he won the opportunity to appear opposite Madonna in that video. It turns out music has remained an important part of his life.
As a post on Live Journal explains, Howard grew up to be a musician and songwriter, penning tunes for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kylie Minogue and the Sugababes. In more recent years, he has risen through the ranks at EMI Music in the UK. After acting as VP of A&R for the label, he was promoted again last month to head of A&R and Senior Vice President of European Creative. Translation: the kid who once tried to sneak into Madonna’s peep show is now a major player in deciding which British artists make it big in the music biz.
