Morning News – Chris Brown Apologizes
Chris Brown, the singer who beat up his girlfriend Rihanna, has released a video where he says that he’s sorry.
Oh! Then it’s all fine. Not.
Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, aka MCA, also released a video apologizing to his fans, but for a very different reason. Yauch has a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland, which means that the group will have to cancel upcoming tour dates. He announced the news via YouTube. The cancer is described as “very treatable”.
The family of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the soldier that was in the Taliban video (see below):
are “overwhelmed” by the messages of support they’ve received from, well, everywhere. They are asking for privacy, however. Heck, whatever they want. So sad.
This hasn’t made news yet, but I heard it so I’ll report it. Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato appeared on the Howard Stern Show yesterday, and called David Letterman a “prick” for the joke he made about Sarah Palin’s daughter. D’Amato had no response when he was reminded of a joke that Senator John McCain once made about the President Clinton’s daughter. (“Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because Janet Reno’s her father.”) I’m not a big fan of D’Amato, but he certainly wasn’t dull.
The Onion was not, in fact, sold to a Chinese media company. But they managed to fool Gawker into thinking that they were. Ha ha.
Finance news from Reuters: “CIT says secures $3 bln credit facility.” I have no idea what that means. I think it’s good news, though.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to “scale back” the tax increase that would pay for the proposed health care bill, “so that it applies only to individuals earning more than $500,000 and couples earning more than $1 million.” This would be what schoolchildren call compromise. It’s part of solving a problem. It works better than screaming. Not saying she’s right. But while the RNC is “targeting” the Obama Administration because they “smell blood“:
some people are at least acknowledging that a problem exists and looking for a solution. Interesting technique, no?
Another day without an assault from over-sized fish. Any day that denizens from the deep don’t attack is a good day in my book.
