Walter Cronkite and The Muppets
With the passing of Walter Cronkite, I was reminded of how he was a part of my childhood.
Obviously he was a great newsman. But for me, he also introduced The Muppet Show.
My mother would watch the news every night. I usually didn’t, at least not when I was a little kid. I would come into the living room to watch The Muppet Show at 7:00pm, which began right after Cronkite’s signature sign off — no commercial break.
So, every night, I would see this (sans “Barnaby Jones” ad, or least I don’t remember that part):

That was in New York. Not sure about the rest of the country.
Anyone else have a Walter Cronkite childhood memory?
