child bride Teacher Apologizes for “Marrying” Fourth GraderA fourth grade teacher in Maine has apologized for playing the groom in a mock wedding after one of his students proposed and the class inveigled the teacher into accepting.

Yeah, that wasn’t going to raise eyebrows.

Naturally, the ceremony held on the playground was innocent enough. The teacher wore a clown tie, the bride a sheet standing in for a gown. There was no kiss to consummate the faux affair.

Regardless, parents were unhappy to learn of the event and the teacher, Paul Rosenblum says he’s, “sick with regret.”

It seems like a teacher who caves to the peer pressure of a gaggle of fourth graders might not have the strongest grasp on his class.

The poor guy has been through enough already. National media exposure for an innocent (albeit ill-advised) game like this? I’m sure we can all remember worse from some of our teachers that did not even involve an apology, much less national media attention.

It was an innocent game and the parents are completely overreacting. People are getting way too sensitive over nothing.

That’s idiotic. He was playing pretend with them (it’s called imagination and is generally encouragede). It was innocent and anyone who thinks otherwise obviously has a sick mind. This is a definate over reaction.
