Harry Potter Kids – Then and Now (Photos)
The new “Harry Potter” movie is here, much to the delight of millions of children (and many of their parents).
One of the interesting aspects of the “Potter” films is that they managed to keep the same actors for all of them, which is unusual. What this means is that we get to see them grow up. Here are some before and after pics of Rupert Grint (“Ron Weasley”), Emma Watson (“Hermione Granger”) and Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter” – as if you didn’t know).
Not to overstate this — it is a movie, after all — but it’s kind of “Sunrise, Sunset“, isn’t it? “Is this this little wizard I carried / Is that the sorceress I saw / Now they’re all old enough to get married / Will they play Quidditch anymore?” There have certainly been actors that we’ve watched get older on screen. But I can’t think of any that did it in the same roles for this length of time. If I’m wrong about that, let me know.
Another thing to think about. Daniel Radcliffe was 11 years old when he was cast as the titular Wizard. Think about that. He’d had some acting experience, but Emma Watson and Rupert Grint hadn’t had any. What a life changing decision.
