Recall: 1,000,000 Play Cribs Due to Hazard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has called for Kolcraft, major child product manufacturer marketing under such brands as names as Carter’s, Sesame Street, Jeep, Contours, Care Bear and Eric Carle, to recall a million play yards. This comes after Kolcraft self-initiated a recall of nearly a half million units after a 10-month-old child strangled to death in one of their products in 2007.
The company itself is somewhat a symbol for questionable child safety. Kolcraft made its name in the 1940′s when founder Leo Koltun invented the bumper pad. Today the bumper pad is considered a hazardous for its connection to strangulation and possibly SIDS.
