Michael Jackson’s Kids at The Memorial - Paris Makes Us Cry

Posted by SunnyChanel on July 7th, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Michael JacksonOn Tuesday, the memorial for Michael Jackson was held at the celebrity and fan packed Staples Center. During the speeches, remembrances and the performances what did I spend most of my time doing?

Looking for Jackson’s kids. Prince, Paris and Blanket were front row center along with the rest of Jackson’s large clan. The children were situated right next to their grandparents, Michael Jackson’s mom Katherine and dad Joe.

During the ceremony Prince sat stoically, in what I’m sure was a totally surreal experience, chewing tensely on a mouthful of gum. Young Blanket wiggled around in his seat while clutching what looked like a Michael Jackson action figure, Paris sat closely to her grandmother, every now and then draping her arm around her grandma’s shoulder. Her emotions were obvious.

Most of the guests giving eulogies gave a shout out to the children. Most notably Rev. Al Sharpton who said to the kids. “There was nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with.”  Paris’s was wide eyed and after the comment stood up to join in a standing ovation and moments later was joined by the rest of the family and Blanket and Prince.

One of the most touching speeches was by Brooke Sheilds quoting The Little Prince. Saying that Michael was not a king to her but more like a Little Prince reciting , “what moves me so deeply about this sleeping little prince is his loyalty to a flower – the image of a rose shining within him like the flame within a lamp, even when he’s asleep….And I realized he was even more fragile than I thought.”

The event ended with the memorial performers, Jackson’s family and the three kids singing along to We Are the World.  After the crescendo of the performances, one of Michael’s brothers spoke while Paris fiddled with her purse and leaned against her aunt Janet for emotional support, while Prince and Blanket stood by looking distracted by the circumstances.

What made me cry? (and I am not easily moved to tears). At the end of the tribute, Michael’s daughter Paris  took the mic and said “Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine. And I wanted to say is …I love him so much.” As she wept, she was taken offstage by the family. The incredibly sad ending to a moving tribute. (SEE VIDEO BELOW)

What did you think of the event? Did you shed any tears?

Joe Jackson Ready To Exploit His Grandchildren | Strollerderby commented on Jul 12 09 at 12:12 pm

I can’t believe you wasted your time in watching it. He’s dead; we didn’t know him so why are we still going on and on about this over a week later. There are more important things in the world than this.

Lisa commented on Jul 07 09 at 4:12 pm

Jeez - Lisa, if you are not interested in this, why are you wasting your time reading this?

Cali Mom commented on Jul 07 09 at 4:31 pm

If u find this not important why did wast ur time to coment! I love Mj. And Paris Michael made me cry. I feel sorry for them but i know they in good hands. Their grandma wil take goodcare of them. I wish all the farmily all the best. Thank u for bringing Mj in our life. Rip Mj

Hossam commented on Jul 07 09 at 5:08 pm

I’m still baffled about MJ’s decision of putting Diana Ross second in line for the children’s custody. What a slap in the face of his siblings! Aren’t they younger and more able to take care of the children for many years to come? Sorry but the two old ladies may not live enough to see those children through high school, college and beyond.

Lisa - a little girl crying for her daddy might not upset you, but it’ s a little girl crying for her daddy for crying out loud. She’s just a kid.

jeannesager commented on Jul 07 09 at 6:10 pm

Couldn’t care less. I was to busy keeping up with whats going down in China ( lots of parents dead there, Iran and Iraq. Lots of orphans left behind that are not filthy rich. Would like to send a donation to Jackson Humanitarian Fund to aid the sick, hungry and poor though. What is the address?

Ali commented on Jul 07 09 at 6:15 pm

im sorry but the people that disagree you are hateful…MJ is dead and people are being disrepsectful..i grew up to listening to him and even tho i havent met him he still made me cry..RIP michael Jackson you are truly missed..love you..and my symphathy goes to the family.:(

charlotte t commented on Jul 07 09 at 6:48 pm

I’m sorry that some of you are unable to feel both sympathy for three orphaned children and concern for other problems in the world. I suppose if you can only think about one thing at a time, you’re making the morally superior choice so: gold stars for you.

My family was all in tears over Paris’ words. That was almost unbearable painful to watch.

Knitty commented on Jul 07 09 at 6:57 pm

i can’t stop crying…

paty commented on Jul 07 09 at 7:33 pm

Ali, like Lisa, is totally full of it. If you “couldn’t care less”, you wouldn’t be reading this. You’re trying to justify to yourself why you are so interested, so put down others who are not as hypocritical.

I also totally cried over what Paris said. As big as a celebrity can be, they are still human and moments like this make us understand this fact.

Cali Mom commented on Jul 07 09 at 7:46 pm

Ditto the article’s sentiment re: Paris. Ali and Lisa, between the two of you, you might total half a heart. But you are each complete and utter bitches.

Mistress_Scorpio commented on Jul 07 09 at 8:40 pm

I thought it was very sad that the children have lost their father. To them he wasn’t a great performer or anything else he was their dad. But I don’t agree with Hossam about grandma getting the children. She is the woman who let her husband exploit their children for their entire lives. even though I am not a huge michael jackson fan and I thought the masks looked a little weird I think that michael jackson was doing the right thing and not exploiting his children to the media. I don’t know that his mother would do the same thing.

cocobean commented on Jul 07 09 at 9:04 pm

This whole situation is disgusting. American soldiers are dying in an intense operation in Afghanistan, IRAN is tearing itself apart, There are riots in China and this is what the media spends its time on. A profiteering family forcing a little girl to cry on national television over her pedophile father.

What is wrong with you people?

Red commented on Jul 07 09 at 9:23 pm

Red, so what exactly are you doing to help those people in Afghanistan, Iran, China, etc.?

Laure68 commented on Jul 07 09 at 9:33 pm

I’m not watching the Michael Jackson Memorial. That frees up my time to complete diplomatic relations with Iran, write a letter of support to China and nuke Afghanistan.

Red commented on Jul 07 09 at 9:35 pm

Not to mention time to post here about something you find so utterly unimportant, eh Red?

Knitty commented on Jul 07 09 at 10:05 pm

I decided Obama had health care under control and I could devote some time to cleansing the internet of sites dedicated to the King of Pedophiles.

Red commented on Jul 07 09 at 10:15 pm

Repellent, but this speaks volumes of what mankind has come to.

Rothinzil commented on Jul 07 09 at 10:18 pm

Kuss commented on Jul 08 09 at 12:27 pm

I don’t really feel like expressing my opinions on MJ, but as someone who lost her own mother at a relatively young age and also experienced the death of a younger brother recently, I completely empathized with Paris’ emotions and reactions on stage- my heart goes out to those kids.

Lex commented on Jul 08 09 at 1:00 pm

Red you’re a douche. Yes there are many problems in the world should we spend so much time on michael’s death probly not but seriously writing a letter to China you’re such a retard. Let’s see your acts of humanitarianism compared against MJ’s. Red’s nothing but a douche.

Red is a douche commented on Jul 08 09 at 2:47 pm

FYI, Soldiers were watching the memorial and were in tears! Michael was more than just a performer, he was a humanitarian, he donated money and time to countless charities and organizations. So while you are saying there are more important things going on in the world like the war, etc, etc, (and yes that may be true), it is ok to take a day or two and remember an icon like MJ. and if you’re not interested, don’t watch, and why would you read an article on it? Why would you search an article on michael, or click a link to something about him if you’re not interested?? Have a little empathy, for his family and for his friends. He donated a large amount of his money to charity. He donated ALL his earnings from the pepsi commercial to burn victims, donated ALL his sales from several shows, a concert, records to charities. What other celebs do that?? If more people were like MJ this world would be a better place, there would be much more compassion in this world.

Julie commented on Jul 08 09 at 4:36 pm

and Red, how can you say they forced a little girl to cry?? MJ was her daddy, she lost a huge part of her life, he wasn’t a huge celebrity or icon to her. To Paris, he was her life, her dad! It’s people like you that make this world so shitty. Write a letter to China?? you are an idiot, but I guess coming on here, criticizing everything and making your arrogant and ignorant comments isn’t wasting your time. So go get started on your letter to China. let me know how that turns out.

Julie commented on Jul 08 09 at 4:40 pm

You guys know what else he did? He raped little boys. That’s the best part really. America Pedophiles take note, all you have to do to make America forget you ever raped little boys is to crotch grab whilst walking backwards.

Red commented on Jul 08 09 at 8:58 pm

You lot do realize she was being facetious about the letter to China, right? Are your grief-laden skulls that thick?

Rothinzil commented on Jul 08 09 at 8:58 pm

FYI, Soldiers were watching the memorial and were in tears of Joy! Michael was more than just a performer, he was a humanitarian, he donated money and time to countless charities and organizations… and fiddled with young Boys. So while you are saying there are more important things going on in the world like the war, etc, etc, (and, you are 100% right), it is ok to take a day or two and remember an icon like MJ, and the way he touched so many young’uns, and if you’re not interested, why hurt my feelings, and why would you read an article on it? Why would you search an article on michael, or click a link to something about him if you’re not interested?? Have a little empathy, for the hordes of idiot fans. He donated a large amount of his money to charity. He donated ALL his earnings from the pepsi commercial to burn victims, donated ALL his sales from several shows, a concert, records to charities. lots of other celebs buy more fame by doing it… look at Bono?? If more people were like MJ this world would full of Peados, there would be much more mollestation in this world. - Fixt that for you Julie

Comments Michael Jackson was a fantastic performer and apparently a pretty good father. I personally did not like what I knew of his personal life. You need not feel empathy to him or his kids, but you could show a little sympathy.

Swampfox commented on Jul 27 09 at 11:44 pm

ALI, may I ask how much you have donated to charity??? Have you donated an amount of $300Million? Would you donate 20% of your estate to charity? Until then, you can shut up. You’re so self-righteous… Why are you looking for a Jackson Humanitarian Fund? Make A Wish Foundation, United Negro College Fund, and so many funds have existed for years. Michael donated to them a lot. Have you donated to them?

Melissa commented on Jul 28 09 at 10:32 am

RED, the extra effort and energy you just wasted on commenting on somebody you obviously do not respect could’ve been used in making a change in China, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan…as you claim would be more worth your time. What are you doing on a blogsite? You should be on an airplane to China, Iraq, Iran, etc. working for change. You obviously aren’t doing anything. Hypocrite.

Melissa commented on Jul 28 09 at 10:36 am

The Viqueen, same goes to you….Another arrogant loser. What have you done exactly? What have you contributed to society? You sit around all day behind your computer commenting on someone you say is a “Waste of time”… It IS YOUR CHOICE to waste your time on him…so what does that say about you? Please use your brain before you comment. You’re nothing but an internet gangster.
