Fifth Graders Get Sex Tape Instead of Slideshow
A lesson to all teachers who make sex tapes: make sure you don’t accidentally grab said tape when you go to make your end-of-year slideshow for your class.
A fifth grade teacher in California never meant to expose her kids to her extra-curricular activities when recorded over her own sex tape. But she accidentally sent it home with her students.
One dad reported watching the DVD with his son and seeing kids sharing stories. Then suddenly, it was Ms. Crystal Defanti on her couch . . . nekkid.
The teacher (who is paired up with a man, per her Facebook picture) was hysterical when she realized what happened, calling the dad in question and asking him to help her pass on the word other parents so that no other kids saw the DVD. Because this was a horrible – but innocent – mistake, parents have been largely supportive of Defanti.
One parent who spoke out did ask if the school could provide some sort of counseling for the kids who saw the tape – he was up all night with his son having the “birds and the bees” talk, one he didn’t expect to tackle in fifth grade.
I’m glad to hear the parents are going off the chain over an innocent mistake. Teachers are human. They make mistakes. This is a rather ghastly one, but still . . . this is a far cry from a teacher who possesses child porn or one who purposely plays a sex tape to a group of fifth graders.
Would you be quite as kind?

tripletmom commented on Jul 03 09 at 11:51 amHe didn´t expect to tackle a sex talk with a fifth grader?! Come on, by the second grade they can teach you a thing or two and explain everything acompanied with hand gestures (wish I was kidding)
jjj commented on Jul 03 09 at 12:33 pmPeople need to lighten up. If this dad didn’t intend to have the “birds and bees” discussion with his son, when was he going to do it? A fifth grader (going into sixth grade now), is 11-12 years old. The fifth grade girls are in puberty, they’ve got boobs, they’re horny, the boys are horny, i would think any responsible parent would be talking about puberty and why your body, and the bodies of your friends and classmates, is changing and what it all means.
GP commented on Jul 03 09 at 1:36 pmI agree about the porn being no big deal and that kids should have had THE TALK by fifth grade, but, still, how dumb and careless do you have to be to make a mistake like this? I think teacher’s a loser.
jeannesager commented on Jul 03 09 at 4:53 pmtripletmom, JJJ, it’s sad, but true. I learned it all on the bus waaaay before my parents were ready to have “the talk.”
