Jon and Kate Say They’re Done Talking
Big news! Jon and Kate Gosselin have announced they’re not talking to the media anymore. So does this mean they’re also not talking to cameras trained on their every movement?
Of course not! Silly you for asking!
The show may be on hiatus until August 3, but the announcement that came this week via the TLC website says only that they’re “no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation.”
No longer reacting? Really? After that lengthy diatribe about how difficult it is to be talked about all the time. READ: we’re reading it, we’re reading it.
Not to mention Kate’s insistence that it is just so blessed awful to have your child say “paparazzi” (this after a scene, in case you missed it, of her telling the kids to unbuckle their seatbelts quickly because the paparazzi were outside waiting . . . gee, how do you think the five-year-old who has grown up with cameras around him every moment of the day noticed there were a few more and learned what to call them? From Mom? Ding, ding, ding!).
The Gosselins’ statement says they’re “working to focus solely on the needs of our family. . . Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible.”
We’ve already said at least a million times here on Babble that doing things privately can’t be done in front of TV cameras. So let’s make it one million and one. This statement is a response to media reports, folks, and it seems orchestrated to line up rather nicely with the July 21 release of the Jon & Kate Plus Ei8ht Season 4, Volume 2: The Big Move DVD.
By not saying anything, they’re screaming “look at us, you want to check us out because are still family-oriented.” They’re just doing it quietly, right?
