Old Lady New Mom Already Back at Work
Britain’s oldest mum, Elizabeth Adeney, is making the rest of us moms look bad. After popping out a baby just last month, the 66-year-old has already returned to work.
A four-week maternity leave? Why?
Adeney is the managing director of a plastics company, not hurting for money, and perfectly able to retire. But apparently she’s stubborn and loves to work (and probably not only a little bit Type A).
Baby Jolyon, whose name means “young at heart” and describes his mother quite well, is home with the live-in nanny.
Adeney conceived her son via IVF in the Ukraine, after doctors in the U.K. refused to treat her since she was over 50.
Right up until her son’s birth, she worked five days a week, not that unusual. Back at work, the only help she needed as a lift.
From the Daily Mail:
Last week, Mrs Adeney was regularly driven to work by a friend, who dropped her off at the front door of her offices in Mildenhall, Suffolk, before bringing in boxes of paperwork from her car. She typically arrived at work around midday and left at about 2.30pm.
Okay, so not a full work day. But still!
How long did it take you to go back to work post birth? Was it choice or necessity?

What was the point??
