Strip Club Sues 14-Year-Old
This might be one of the most convaluted stories I’ve read in awhile: a fourteen-year-old girl was kidnapped and forced to work in a strip club . . . which got in trouble for allowing a fourteen-year-old to go topless . . . and is now SUING said fourteen-year-old.
OK, take a moment and cushion your neck. That hurt us too.
The girl, who needless to say has not been identified, was allegedly kidnapped from San Antonio by Leslie Campbell, 48, who took her to Corpus Christi. There Campbell abused the girl sexually and forced her to work at the club.
She escaped while Campbell was in the shower, and she’s now safe and sound with her parents back in San Antonio while he’s been arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. Also arrested was the manager of Club Cheetah for allegedly employing a fourteen-year-old as a stripper and allowing her to expose her breasts.
And that’s where this story gets nuts. The club is suing the girl AND her parents. They say she “flimflammed” (yes, that’s a direct quote from their lawyer) the club when she walked in wearing stiletto heels and brandishing a fake ID (which she says Campbell provided).
“She came (into the club) with 6-inch stiletto heels and a miniskirt and looked just like a model from a Miss America’s contest,” said lawyer Alan Yaffe according to MySA News.
A fourteen-year-old who looks older? OK, we’d buy that, but aren’t club owners supposed to know what a fake ID looks like? That is, after all, their business. And to sue the kid who was kidnapped and sexually abused seems like a pretty low blow to us. Not to mention she was fourteen - she’s a minor being accused of bamboozling (excuse me, flimflamming) a bunch of adults here. Now who should be ashamed of themselves?
And it gets worse: her parents are being sued for not properly supervising their daughter. You know, while she was kidnapped and being sexually abused.
I suppose we shouldn’t expect much class out of a strip club, but can it get any trashier?

Shana commented on Jun 26 09 at 11:41 amI can uderstand the cloub owners wanting to sue someone, but I think that person should be Leslie Campbell, not the girl and her family. What were the lawyers of the strip club owner thinking? Did they find out that the parents were rich and just happen to be heartless enough to decide victimizing this family further was worth it?
I actually lived in Corpus Christi for nine years and can tell you that I have never lived in a city so desperate to close down every strip club in existence. There are some pretty ridiculous zoning laws there to keep them to a minimum. Actually the only place in town that you can buy pornography is all the way out by the oil refineries and would frequently end up getting shut down because of fumes from said refineries. Oddly enough though, there was this place called Legs that managed to have this rather ostentaious thirty foot woman shaped billboard the city that was known by everyone in town.
Erica commented on Jun 26 09 at 12:26 pmI was born and raised in Corpus, and honestly this story is totally horrible and totally not surprising coming out of that city. Corpus is one of those towns that you get out of as soon as you can. It is full of thugs, and there is very little opportunity even if you have a college education. Teenage drinking, drugs, and pregnancy runs rampant. No doubt the owners of Cheetahs is from Corpus. They are probably trying to save their butts, as I’m sure that club was making them tons of money. They must be heartless to sue this family.
On a side note - Shana, I can totally still picture that thirty foot woman in my head. hee hee hee hee. And I must’ve been in elementary school when it came down.
Lanie commented on Jun 26 09 at 2:54 pmHow can you possibly “understand” the club owners who employed a 14-year-old girl wanting to sue someone??? Really, because they are the victims here?
Shana commented on Jun 26 09 at 7:00 pmLanie, what I meant is that they are now in trouble for something I highly doubt they ever wanted to do. I in no way condone what they are doing to poor girl and her family. They have suffered more than enough as it is. I agree with Erica, the owners of the club and the lawyers representing them are indeed heartless.
And Erica, Corpus is not that bad. I have many friends that still live in Corpus, all with a college education, that are doing just fine. They are artists, engineers, teachers, nurses, business operators, et cetera. I do think that the public school system is horrible there though. My mother is a teacher in a low income neighborhood there and straight out of college I was already making more money than here. That was disturbing. Otherwise, I would put it in the same league as just about any town in the US. The teen pregnancy thing can definitely be blamed on the whole weird abstinence only education thing.
