Palin Fired Up About Photoshopped Pic of Trig
Sarah Palin is up in arms about a blogger’s use of a photo of the governor holding her son Trig. An Alaska blogger named Linda Kellen Biegel photoshopped the face of Alaskan Eddie Burke, a right wing talk show host, onto Trig’s face.
Biegel was poking fun at Burke for what she calls his “probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor.” But Palin saw the photo as a “malicious desecration” aimed at special needs children.
It’s understandable that no parent would want their child used as a political pawn. But in lashing out against the blogger’s use of the photo of Trig, Palin used Trig in a far more egregious mannor than the blogger. In her statement condemning the photoshopped picture, Palin repeatedly evoked Trig’s special needs, accused the Obama administration of indecency, and questioned the blogger’s loyalty to the State of Alaska.
A few highlights from her spokeswoman’s email: “The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling. To learn that two Alaskans did it is absolutely sickening….The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned.”
If Palin had simply protested the use of her baby to make a political point, I may have been able to see where she was coming from. But Biegel’s blog post clearly had nothing to do with Trig’s special needs. To make it a special needs issue–not to mention a national moral issue–is to shamelessly exploit Trig’s Down’s syndrome to serve Palin’s political agenda.

Bec commented on Jun 25 09 at 1:58 pmShe put the picture out there for public consumption, so it’s fair game. I love how she keeps getting outraged over things that are besides the point being made.
Lisa Graas commented on Jun 25 09 at 2:22 pmPalin has given a voice to parents of children with DS. Giving these parents a voice is not “egregious”. Mocking them because of it is.
Dad commented on Jun 25 09 at 2:39 pmSorry, don’t see where the mocking part is.
Mistress_Scorpio commented on Jun 25 09 at 2:55 pmShe gets outraged by so many things that it just becomes fun to poke fun at her.
PlumbLucky commented on Jun 25 09 at 3:01 pmNo parent wants their child used as a political pawn? Um…so why is/was SP trotting her children all over the place on the campaign trail; why did she out her underage daughter’s pregnancy; why has Bristol been all over the media circus stumping for abstinence of late?
I don’t want my son used as a political pawn. Therefore, should I ever have a momentary lapse of judgement and get into politics, I will not shove my child in front of the media as she has done.
TolaniLucia commented on Jun 25 09 at 3:04 pmLisa Graas,Do you really want this incredibly inarticulate, cocky and overly reactionary woman as the voice for parents of children with DS? Really?
Bluster commented on Jun 25 09 at 3:14 pmThe total development of the electronic industry, the internet, and all of their tools has grown with only one goal in mind; to desecrate the imkage of Sarah Palin in the eyes of the world. I know this to be true because… well, because…uh well, don’t you think it’s so?
Knitty commented on Jun 25 09 at 3:14 pmPalin is THRILLED any time anyone does or says anything that will let her get in front of a camera and do her “outraged” act. You can practically see her jumping up and down in excitement over it.

John commented on Jun 25 09 at 4:45 pmSomeone should tell Gov. Palin that it is not possible to be a victim and a leader at the same time. She seems to attract needless drama at each passing moment.
FacePalm commented on Jun 25 09 at 4:49 pm‘It’s understandable that no parent would want their child used as a political pawn.’ Well, In Palin’s case, she doesn’t want anyone ELSE to use her children as political pawns. Shes totally fine with dragging them around the country and making them get on stage and pretend they are getting married to their baby daddy and such, so long as the children (pawns) are serving the needs of her ambition and image. When someone from the opposition uses her children to make a point, then it is the POTUS’s fault, for not signing off on the words and deeds of every left leaning blogger on the internets. Her argument is so insane, one could construe it to mean Every Bad Thing That Anyone Does is Obama’s fault. If one look to politicians to set their ‘moral tone’ they are beyond help I suppose.
Planter's Nuts commented on Jun 25 09 at 5:01 pmWeekly fake outrage – sign of a true religious right conservative.
I am surprised she is not protesting the sun for causing the DS in her son.
Jana commented on Jul 03 09 at 7:08 pmMy goodness – what a sad state for things to be in – that a mother can’t defend her family without being ridiculed? I know if it were MY CHILD, NOTHING would stop me from defending them. Praises to Mrs. Palin for being a mom first and all the trappings after….
whatistheworldcomingto?? commented on Jul 04 09 at 12:19 amThis is so sick. If she were a liberal, she would be a super star…You ridicule her daughter, ridicule her family, her traditional values, and then ridicule her down syndrome baby and that’s okay? Absolutely disgusting. I am fed up with this media crap.
Mary commented on Jul 07 09 at 4:58 pmHell hath no fury like a woman scorned….Liberals…the gloves are off and she is coming for you!
