The Obamas Enjoy A San Francisco Treat

A couple of weeks ago I took on a daunting challenge. I took my 3-year-old daughter on a cable car ride. Being a San Francisco native, our cable cars are something I hold dear…and apparently so do all tourists who come to my fair city. The line for the ride? Painfully long. By the time we got on the cable car packed with people, no one volunteered to give up their seat for a woman (me) who was clearly having trouble keeping her toddler under control and safe. You know who I should have been hanging out with? The Obamas.
While Michelle Obama was in San Francisco talking about the importance of volunteerism, Sasha, Malia and the first Grandma took a ride on the maiden voyage of a brand spanking new cable car. The trio rode the No. 15 car from the cable car barn for a short distance to our famous Lombard street where they jumped into an awaiting car and took a ride down ‘The Crookedest Street in the World’.
“We got them there safely,” stated the Municipal Transportation Agency chief Nathaniel Ford, who went along for the ride. ”We are honored that they elected to ride a cable car as part of their visit to San Francisco.’
Ah, just one of the perks for having a dad who just happens to be president.

So it isn’t just the President’s kids who can enjoy the bustling activity of the City on the Bay. That thrill is available to any child who has a parent that ever got elected to office.
How about you?? Was your mom elected president of her high school class?? If so, take the trip, and enjoy the ride.
