Jon and Kate Plus Divorce: For Real Now

jon and kate divorce1 Jon and Kate Plus Divorce: For Real NowOK, so if you didn’t see this coming, you are officially a moron (sorry, just sayin’): Jon and Kate Gosselin have officially filed for divorce.

Toootally not shocked here, but we’re at least a little sad (no, really, we are).

Word has it the divorce papers were officially filed today at the Bucks County Courthouse near their home in Pennsylvania. The legal proceedings came just hours before the Gosselins were set to make their “announcement” to the world about the fate of their marriage (stay tuned tonight to TLC – we’re betting on a ratings bonanza). UPDATE: video of the announcement after the jump.

I wouldn’t wish a divorce on my best friend (and yes, it’s happened to her). So I’m sad to see two people who had to have been in love at one point (we’d hope) come to this. But as a recent study found, staying together for the kids isn’t necessarily BEST for the kids.

What is the best thing for kids to see? In my oh-so-humble opinion, it’s two happy parents. It’s two parents who – even if it’s in moving on – are showing their kids examples of strength and dignity. And what about Jon and Kate Gosselin has been dignified in the last few weeks?

Yeah, that’s what we thought.

So now that it’s here, and it’s no longer speculation (or icky votes suggesting people you don’t even know split up), are you relieved for their sakes?

Because we’re sad . . . and relieved . . . and we have three words left for the Gosselins: GET OFF TV.

I didn’t follow the show much, what I saw, I thought she was a little bit of a nag…I DON’T see how the hell you can get a divorce when you have 8 kids! Who else will want you? People, find a way to make it work for heaven’s sake!

I can’t say enough how much I agree that they need to GET OFF TV. Those poor kids have been through enough. I sincerely hope that there is a real and impactful backlash against TLC for agreeing to continue to film this show.

Granted, I have never watched much on TLC, and I think I’ve seen about half an episode of J&K+8…but I strongly doubt my clicker will ever rest on TLC again. I hope that the 5 figures they earn an episode is enough to pay for 8 lifetimes of therapy for what they’ve done to their children. (Yes, “done to their children”, because they’ve wh0red their babies out for the almighty dollar.) I really feel lousy for their kids, who someday will be able to buy the episodes on DVD that show the implosion of their parents’ marriage, who will never have a normal life, and will always be a product of this show no matter whether they want to or not.

Reprehensible as it is to pimp out your kids on TV to fund your extravagant lifestyle, I never thought that even Jon and Kate would force those poor kids to endure a televised divorce. I figured that if they decided to split, they’d end the show. Ha! They clearly couldn’t care less about their children, it’s all about the money. Hopefully the state will step in soon and end this fiasco.

I did see the episode last night where they announced their seperation and subsequently, their divorce proceedings. While I realize that Kate has been bossy with regards to her husband, Jon has been such a wimp! Is it her fault that he can’t find the b***s to stand up for himself? He finally makes a stand, only to have an affair and decide he wants to leave. Wow, what a man! What a great example to your kids! No counselling, no communication but let’s get a divorce. They talk about how hard it has been for the last 8 months or so… that’s what you give it? Your 10 year marriage isn’t even worth going to a counsellor for? Come on people. Jon needs to GROW UP. He kept saying ‘ I’m only 32 years old’. SO WHAT?? Your age isn’t the issue here Jon, the fact that you are a father and a husband is. Stop thinking with the wrong head you fool! I feel sad for Kate and the kids… I do think those children are happy happy kids and have been very well taken care of. They obviously feel loved. When I first started watching the show I thought Jon was a great dad… now I think he just another typical male, all about himself.

I was hoping their big announcement would be that they were going to kick the tv cameras out of their home, and work on their marriage.
