Toll House Cookie Dough Recalled

nestle 300x163 Toll House Cookie Dough RecalledLazy bakers, look out. That Toll House cookie dough in the fridge may contain e.Coli.

Nestle, the makers of Toll House, have issued a voluntary recall of the stuff due to a number of recent illnesses possibly linked to the dough.

Important note, however: the reported illnesses were after the dough had been eaten raw — sure, who doesn’t like that. But there are warnings on the package, so …

The recall includes [via LA Times]: refrigerated cookie bar dough, cookie dough tub, cookie dough tubes, limited edition cookie dough items, seasonal cookie dough and Ultimates cookie bar dough. It does not affect any other Toll House products.

Back to baking from scratch (although you shouldn’t eat that dough, which includes eggs, raw either).

Anyone else think “Total CYA so that they don’t get sued”? Like everyone said: who doesn’t eat RCD even though we know “they” say we aren’t supposed to?

Eating raw cookie dough is one of the simple pleasures that you partake in when you are making cookies. They’re just covering their butts!
