Octomom: I Screwed Up My Kids’ Lives

Posted by madeline holler on June 5th, 2009 at 2:49 pm

octotmz 300x232 Octomom: I Screwed Up My Kids LivesIn a series of candid interviews with Radar online, Nadya Suleman let’s it all out, answering questions that those who have followed her story have asked themselves more than once.

For example, the sperm donor. What’s the deal with him?

Eight more babies after already having six? What the hell was she thinking?

Survival? What’s the plan?

Any regrets? Turns out, plenty!

Radar online captured eight minutes of girl talk between Suleman and her best friend during a dinner out in L.A., where she talks about her relationship, her plans and her reckless choices.

Throughout the chat, Suleman’s girlfriend wants to blame the bio dad for agreeing to donate sperm to Suleman, but Suleman won’t have any of it. She tells her friend she “coerced” the man, whom she confesses in a different interview to have feelings for.

Each of her pregnancies, she hints, was an attempt to bring the donor into her life. Transferring the eight frozen embryos that launched Octomom into the spotlight was her last-ditch attempt.

From Radar:

“I secretly wanted him in my life.”

Which explains a bunch of the babies.

“I coerced him into helping me every year…. The more kids I had, the stronger connection I had with him, and I couldn’t even imagine anyone else, and he knew that,” Suleman, whose other six children were also the result of in-vitro fertilization efforts, told Radar Online.

And man, man, does she regret it.

“I screwed myself. I screwed up my life and I screwed up my kid’s lives. What the heck am I going to do?”, Nadya says as she dines Wednesday night with her best friend at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant in Brea, California near her home in La Habra, Calif.

“What the heck am I going to do? I have to put on this strong face, and I have to pretend like I don’t regret it,” she added.

She also says if the father does not initiate a relationship with her children on his own, she will reveal his identity to her oldest child Elijah when he turns 18 in ten years, so that he can contact his dad, if he wants to.

She also believes the man, whose identity she said she says she wants to protect (um, won’t happen, you heard it here first), resents her. And then adds she resents herself.

Suleman reveals in a follow-up interview that she and the sperm donor had sex 10 years ago and she has been celibate since.

As for providing for her family? A $60,000 per year couselor’s job won’t do. Only a reality show will begin to pay the bills.

I don’t believe for a minute that she regrets this. It was her plan from the start to have high-order multiples and score a TV show like the Gosslins, and she’s done just that.

She´s having dinner with a friend at a restaurant!!! I “only” had triplets and I could´nt leave the house for the first 6 month at least. I wish I could have “regrets” like that

She did these IVF attempts/successes in order to get a man into her life? (Sorry, incredulous. I mean, it works so well when you try to trap a man IRL sans IVF…)

tripletmom – heck, I have a singleton and wonder how anyone manages more than one, much less eight, much less fourteen! (And TMP is NOT cheap.)
