Picture 22 300x195 Report From Camp MightyThis last weekend in Palm Springs, California, around 100 bloggers, artists, writers, marketing specialists, content creators, and others got together to find inspiration and hope in working on life goals and dreams.

I was one of the folks that got to attend Camp Mighty. I was eager to sign up to attend after also being lucky enough to be invited to the Mighty Summit last year, a similar event on a much more intimate scale.

Both events are the brainchild of event coordinator extraordinaire Maggie Mason, author of the site Mighty Girl and the founder of Mighty Events. With strong support, of course, from Laura Mayes, co-founder of Kirtsy and the Mom 2.0 Summit.

The conference centered around inspiring and informing, while also challenging individuals to work on a “life list” which is a collection of things you want to do or accomplish during your lifetime.

The Summit was held at the fabulous Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, a place that is probably what heaven looks like for hipsters. Filled with hilarious details and charmingly self-conscious elements of “cool”, the hotel also offered damn fine showers, excellent food, and spacious rooms with lots of corners around featuring fire pits, gas fireplaces, comfortable outdoor furniture, and cozy corners.

Mornings at the conference were spent listening to informative and inspiring speakers, such as the musician Kenna who shared about his documentary and project Summit on the Summit where several famous folks hiked up Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and funds for clean water projects. (Kenna also called his mother while he spoke so we could wish her a happy birthday and she was ADORABLE. As was Kenna.) Clean water was one of the focuses on the conference; attendees raised over $20,000 for Charity Water, helping over a thousand individuals gain access to clean water.

There was also plenty of time for laying around at the pool or lounging in the hot tub even though it rained all day Sunday. That didn’t stop a large group of folks hanging in the hot tub during the rain storm. I was sad to miss that.

On Thursday night the band The Ton Tons played, knocking everyone out with a fun and fresh sound. I met the singer and guitarist in the food line and they were charmingly earnest and adorable.

Overall, Camp Mighty was a great time with constant surprises. It was far different than any other social media conference I’ve attended. It will be fun to watch what Mighty Events does next.

Great run down Cecily! I was one of those in the hot tub FOREVER in the rain on Saturday. It was awesome! Missed you there, but I loved chatting with you throughout the weekend. You pushed me and also showed me a way to be that I will never forget.
