Another Banner Year For Blogalicious
Two weekends ago, over three hundred women descended on a hotel near Washington, DC to join in the awesome at the third annual Blogalicious Conference. What is Blogalicious?
Founded in 2009, the Blogalicious Weekend conferences are aimed at celebrating the diversity of women of all ethnicities in social media. Over the course of 3 event-filled days, savvy, influential and talented women bloggers will ignite a sense of unity within the multicultural blogging community as well as educate marketers on the importance of our demographic in today’s marketplace, all while networking, building relationships, and promoting inspiration and success for each other.
I pinned down Blogalicious co-founder Stacey (one of MomCrunch’s fine writers!) to ask a few questions about this year’s conference.
How many folks attended this year?
We had about 340 attend this year. How does this compare to previous years? This was our largest attendance by far! We had 177 in 2009 and 275 in 2010. This year was the first time we had a wait list (and it was over 60ppl long!).
What was the highlight of the conference this year? I’ve heard a lot about the scent memory thing.
There were tons of highlights but, yes, the #Scentalicious at Blogalicious event hosted by Gain was amazing! First, comedienne Wanda Sykes kicked us off with a video welcome message, then five bloggers were selected to share a scent memory of theirs at the event, and the memories shared had the crowd laughing, crying and reflecting. Gain decorated the room based on the memories (think coconuts and oranges on the tables, along with stunning bouquets of flowers) and even served fettuccine for lunch in honor of one of the scent memories. It was powerful and intimate — the perfect way to end the conference.
What was your favorite part of the conference?
The best part of the conference for me is always seeing the attendees enjoying themselves, making new connections and reveling in the Blogalicious sisterhood. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true.
Where will it be next year?
No idea!
Have you heard good reports from the sponsors?
Yes, we have! Our sponsors were fantastic and they loved the personal and creative engagement at the event. I know that the bloggers felt the same way — from bringing celebs like Paula Patton (Cover Girl) to Chef Aaron McCargo Jr. (Aunt Jemima), to screening a 2012 film trailer to the tune of a live gospel choir (Warner Bros), the sponsors went all out and they’re being shown love in posts and tweets throughout the blogosphere!
It’s clear that the attendees enjoyed it too.
Blogalicious was amazing! I met the most inspiring and encouraging women (and a few men) at Blogalicious. I was welcomed with open arms. – Baby Shopaholic
I may have entered the room a hot mess but I exited the room feeling empowered and connected! – Checking Up & Checking In With Toni Staton Harris
Last week, I was completely energized after attending Blogalicious, a women’s blogging conference. – Devries PR
Sounds like Blogalicious has grown into one of the best blogging conferences. Next year, I’ll get there for sure (I was so close this year!).
