You Want to Work with Brands, But Can They Reach You?
Since we’re talking about email addresses…
It seems like such a small detail, and yet one that I repeatedly see missing on so many blogs: the complete and utter absence of an email address.
It happens all the time – I see a nicely designed blog, interesting content and…no way to get in touch with the blogger. Sure, there might be a link to a Twitter profile, or even a contact form, but neither of those methods of contact make it easy for someone, especially a PR rep who may or may not be tech savvy, to get in contact with them.
It may be an oversight in the blog design; or perhaps intentional in order to avoid spam or junk pitches – whatever the reason for the lack of an email address on the blog, there is no question that the harm done by not having one is outweighed by the damage done to the potential relationships that could be developed.
Or maybe you do have an email address on your blog but…it’s hidden. It might be that it’s buried in the text on your About page or in a PDF of your media kit. I can assure you that no one wants to spend precious minutes clicking around your site trying to find a way to reach you.
So, take a moment and look at your blog through the eyes of a visitor – are you easily accessible? Is your email address simple to find? If not, rectify the situation immediately! You never know what opportunities you might be missing out on due to a tiny, but critical, detail.
