Mommy Burn-Out: I Desperately Need That Nap!
This month has been a killer and I can’t wait for it to be over. I hate ‘wishing away my life’ by hoping for time to speed up, but this month has taken a beating out of me — out of my whole family.
I can’t really complain about the winter — it’s been incredibly mild and would resemble a cold spring more then winter. Typically, February months are the coldest here in Toronto (Canada), but we have had little snow and a lot more rain the usual. That doesn’t stop the never-ending flu’s that enter into the house though.
Since my kids started school we — not having any experience being around a lot of children as you would in daycare — have caught every little bug that goes around. It would not be unreasonable to say there has been at least one person sick for every day this month. I am tired! I am having a big dose of mommy burn-out.
One of the ‘perks’ of motherhood is that when the whole house is sick — doesn’t matter if you are too because it’s my job to take care of everyone else. I’m sure all of you can emphasize with me on that one. On one hand, it’s easier if everyone is sick because when the kids have less energy, I can expel less energy taking care of them.
This past month we’ve all had pink eye twice, the stomach flu, and a head flu going around. It’s moved through all five of us and then back and lingers. On top of all that ‘fun’ we have been busy celebrating both Princess Raru’s fifth birthday and Princess Bean’s third birthday — it’s been both fun and exhausting.
There is little to no rest — for anyone — but as the Mom I get the brunt of it. The late nights, the early mornings, the three kids crawling into my bed, the husband who keeps me up with his coughing. Balancing the sick with the home life — housework, school work, work work — has been harder then average.
I can’t wait for this month to be over — only a few more days. Although …. wishing for March means wishing for my 30th birthday to come quicker — which is a whole new story of panic!
::So, hit me up with your advice — how can I get out of this Mommy burn-out? ::

Ruth commented on Feb 27 12 at 7:29 amThe only relief I get when I’m sick is to send The Kid off with the grandparents. You can’t take care of the family if you can’t even get out of bed!!
Hope you feel better REALLY soon. xo
Maija @ Maija's Mommy Moments commented on Feb 27 12 at 12:42 pmI can offer no advice… all I can say is I hear you, I’m living it now too. But thankfully spring is not that far away. Sending (((HUGS))).
Tonya commented on Feb 27 12 at 5:16 pmIt must be going around because I took an epic nap this past weekend and I don’t nap. EVER!! I chalked it up to mommy burn out. Glad I’m not the only one.
