The Baby Piano Lesson
Hooray! Another post about how if there were ever an award ceremony for BEST BIG SISTER EVER Addie would be a valid contender. I filled an entire post with photos of the two of them together here, I have a whole post dedicated to how much these two adore each other here and there’s another post filled with Addie reading to her baby sister here.
Today’s post isn’t much different. Addie came home from school to Vivi and me playing in the front room. Addie sat down on the couch and furiously scribbled out a note on her new clipboard and came over to inform Vivi that “this is the list of things we are going to do today.” First on the list was a rousing game of peek-a-boo. Blankets were involved, giggles were had and then it was onto the next activity Addie called “swooshing.” Swooshing involves a fan or other large but light object to be “swooshed” in front of the baby’s face to blow a puff of air causing laughter and her hair to fluff up for a moment. Reading came next. Addie chose Shel Silverstein’s “Everything On It” and read about seven poems. Last on the list was “play piano.”
I was nervous to put my baby up on a piano bench with Addie but Addie proved me wrong, watching over her baby sister like I watched over her when she was a baby. The patience and love she shows that baby, it’s astounding. See for yourself:
