My daughter's blank baby book...

My daughter’s baby book sits completely blank on the top shelf of her closet.

My son doesn’t even have a baby book.

I can’t begin to describe how guilty I feel about being a slacker mom when it comes to documenting their infancy.

I’ve never been good about keeping a journal or diary of any sort, so while my intentions were good with my daughter’s baby book, I failed before I even began.

And that is why I am so incredibly grateful that I began my personal blog in 2010.

Since then, I’ve written about my pregnancy with her and my son and those first few years with them.

I’ve also documented so much of their everyday life now that sometimes I get so wrapped up in photographing or writing down what’s happening so that I can blog about it that I become an observer instead of a participant.

It seems that the pendulum has swung from not documenting enough to being obsessive about capturing every single moment.

I’m grateful that I started blogging, but I am trying to figure out a way to relax a bit and be in the moment with them more.

Do you keep a journal or blog? I’d love to know if you struggle with the same thing and how you find balance.

If you blog, you this YouTube video might make you laugh…
