What My Day Looks Like from A to Z
Who doesn’t love the ABCs? I’m up to my eyeballs in ABCs over here. It comes with the job description. There are ABCs on my fridge, ABCs on my shower door, ABCs in my car, ABCs on all the toys, and the number-one hit in our house right now is the alphabet song that everyone sings to my toddler. So, it only makes sense that I do a play-by-play of my day to our chart-topping song, doesn’t it? It would be way cooler if I could rap it to you in person. Sorry, you’re missing out!
Before I get all jiggy with the ABCs, we need to rewind a bit to the time my husband joked with me and asked me what I do all day at home.
You know, he sort of assumed that I watched TV and ate ice cream because I’m a “stay-at-home” mother. Ha ha ha. That was funny for about .2 seconds. So, I documented every thing I did the next day. I’m happy to have the proof, for both our sakes. That was a year ago. My life is a little different now that my kids are older and I’m pregnant. I was feeling a documentary-type of day coming on. Yesterday was it. Thanks to my new iphone, I could easily capture the moments of my day. They just so happened to go with the alphabet. Like I said, who doesn’t love the ABCs? Welcome to my day that was yesterday!
I’m telling you, writing everything I did that day helped me understand why I’m so tired at night! It’s great to have the evidence!
Have you ever documented the details of your day?

Leon commented on Jan 26 12 at 1:23 pmWhew!!! It makes me tired reading about your day. Those who think moms don’t ‘work’ have their head in the clouds, or in the sand, whichever applies.
LK commented on Jan 26 12 at 10:12 pmYou skipped V. Not like you really need it though – seems like your plate is plenty full without it!
J. commented on Jan 27 12 at 1:42 amV is in there; with U. V is for Video games. :)
Jennifer commented on Jan 27 12 at 1:58 amYay! So the next time my grandma tells me I take on too much (even though these are things we have to do) I can pull this up and say, “See. I’m not the only one who is racing around all day.”
Mama2011 commented on Jan 27 12 at 1:58 amwow you got them all!! I only have one little girl… i cant imagine a day like that with so little sleep,…
Lynn commented on Jan 27 12 at 7:05 amI love that the first picture is 6:00 “Sharp.” It made me laugh! I get up at 6 a.m. sharp, too!
Rosana commented on Jan 30 12 at 12:04 pmPoor thing. I just wish I could stop by your house at lunch time and do some laundry for you, LOL!
dawn commented on Jan 30 12 at 8:18 pmI get that you and all stay at home moms are busy, but why the need to justify it with this article? I am a single mom, who works a full time job and does everything you do as well and although I am not pregnant I suffer from end stage renal disease which means my dr and the local hospital’s infusion center are like 2nd homes at this point. I am kind of tired of this stay at home mom need to justify their lives as being busy and productive, why not just do the job without the need for kudos. Woking mom’s do.
Tara commented on Jan 31 12 at 5:52 pmDear editors: Please stop forcing readers to click through an annoying slide show in order to read an otherwise enjoyable and informative article. I won’t do it because don’t have time, and neither do most of your readers.
Danielle commented on Feb 01 12 at 11:27 amHey Dawn, seriously, you didn’t have to read it. Also, you can make a slideshow of your own life if you want to. If you don’t feel like you have to justify your busy-ness, don’t make a slideshow. Just don’t hate on other people who make entertaining and enjoyable posts.
Tara, as much as I enjoyed the ABC’s of parenting, I’m kind of with you on the whole slideshow clicking thing. I only got 10 seconds to internet surf during baby naps, and usually that’s taken up with one click.
MandyCheney, I must be slow and lazy. No IDEA how you get all that done in one day. And you’re pregnant. Wow.
anon commented on Feb 01 12 at 11:52 amCute, but you almost totally lost me at “B is for Bible”. A little presumptuous, yes? I mean, certainly not all SAHMs are Christians.
anon commented on Feb 01 12 at 11:53 am@Dawn because SAHMs still get a lot of flack for being “just moms”. The day working moms stop looking down on us, maybe we can stop justifying our existence to them.
mandycheney commented on Feb 01 12 at 1:22 pm@Dawn thanks for your comment, I know every mother is busy, regardless if they stay home or work outside the home. I’m not complaining one bit about what I do in my day, I choose each little part of it. I personally am intrigued by what other mothers do and give you total props for being a single mom and working full-time. I don’t know how you do it! Not looking for kudos myself, just sharing a piece of my life with y’all!
@Anon, not presuming one bit that every SAHM reads the Bible or is Christian. It was just part of my day. We could say that B stood for Book or Back to sleep which is what I’d like to do most days!
Love to hear all of your thoughts, thanks and hope you have a great day!
