iphonephoto 200x300 10 Must Have Apps for Moms (and 5 Guilty Pleasures)When I was a child, I used to love visiting other families and pouring over their bookshelves. I was always so intrigued by which titles they had and which authors were their favorites.

And in a way, seeing what apps other people have on their phones is a bit like that.

I’m always curious to see which apps other people use most and which ones they couldn’t live without.

So, I’m showing you my ten favorite apps that I use as a mom and five of my favorite guilty pleasure apps.

I’d LOVE to hear your favorites in the comments. If you could only have one or two apps, which would they be?

I use my Camera+ app every day. I love all of the editing options, filter choices, and the way it can take a no-so-great photo and make it fabulous. ($0.99)

I have to look into some of those. They sound great! My favorite app on my phone is from Allrecipes. I have found some great recipes through it.

I would love a Pinterest and Instagram app, but I don’t think they’re available for Droids yet.

You might have just solved all my life’s problems with the Cozi suggestion.

Others I love:
- Diptic – allows you to play around with photos and build a multi-photo “frame” for posting to Instagram, etc.
- Flipboard – pulls in content from your Twitter, Facebook feeds & other sources you can choose to create a sort of magazine version
- Genius scan – when you need to scan and email something and don’t want to have to find a scanner
- Harold and the Purple Crayon – keeps my kid entertained when I need quiet ;)

Ooh fun list for my new phone. I love instantaneous already and am hoping My Fitness Pal helps me kick my own butt into shape over the next couple of months.

GasBuddy (tells the cheapest gas in the area)
CardStar (keeps all your bonus and club cards on your phone)
Waze (Tells where there is traffic and why)
MyHomework (helps keep kids homework and projects organized)
Ireward (chore chart for kids)
Med e-folder (all your family’s health history in one place)
and my absolute favorite Livestrong (calories and fitness tracker…helped me lose 45 lbs)
Could not live without any of these apps!!!

I can’t live without the following:

Baby ESP (allows you to keep track of things like feedings, sleep time, medicine, etc and it costs $4.99 [which I have found is so worth it!!!])
Offender Search (allows me to check to see if there are sexual predators nearby and can also set it up on my families phones so we can check in with one another and it’s free)
Battery Indicator (allows me to see how much battery I have and how much longer I can use it via usage and it costs $1.99)

The ones I have that I can live without:

Sudoku Free
Mouse
Pool Master
Break the Blocks
Angry Birds

Great list of apps. Of course I love all of the social media ones already.

I’m just going to add that I love the Baby Monitor app. My husband and I discovered it when we were traveling with our infant and forgot our monitor at home. You set up your phone with the app in the room with the baby and if the baby makes noise for x # of seconds, it calls your other phone (my husband’s) and you can listen to the sound. If you hang up, it resets. So handy!

I am gonna check out Cozi.

My favorite apps include…
Good – perfect my when working remote and checking my corporate email and calendar
Recall Genie – but I heard the next release is going to be a million times better!
iMovie – for quickly editing movies directly on my phone
Starbucks – now I never forget my pre-paid card since I can pay with my phone
Path – I wish the facebook app was this easy to use
Shopkick – because it reminds me that shopping is supposed to be fun
LinkedIn- because this works better than my corporate directory
MomMaps – Seriously saved my life while I was on maternity leave!

Is this Your actual phone? Love your home screen pic. Where’d you find it?

B commented on Jan 14 12 at 7:52 am

Thanks, B! It is my actual phone. :)
I use the WallpaperHD app. Here’s the link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/retina-wallpapers-hd-glow/id384922950?mt=8
