Kid Scoop
The Sleepless Wanderer
Over at baby babble I wrote about how babies and kids are already naturally creepy, therefore Hollywood does not need to be upping the creep factor of the under 18 set for ratings or “entertainment” value. There is no entertainment to be had when you’re the one that has to come home from a scary movie to a house full of children who wander and go bump in the night. I mentioned a story about Addie watching me feed Vivi in the middle of the night from outside of the door only I didn’t notice her until I backed out of Vivi’s room, closed the door, bumped into Addie, screamed and smacked Addie in the side of the head.
Sorry about that kid, but you just can’t sneak up on mommy like that.
Who knows how often she gets out of bed and wanders the halls. It’s not as though she has a sleepwalking problem, I think she just hears one of us up with Vivi and decides to go check things out. The other night she was so convinced that she was fully well rested that she was dressed! and ready to go to school! at four am.
FOUR AM.
Silly me forgot to look at a clock when I got up with the baby so imagine my surprise thinking it was actually 7 am when she came in fully dressed only to find that it was 4 am and I now had to very lively! and awake! little girls to coax back to sleep. (Also, guess who went back to sleep but was a BEAR to wake up three hours later when it was time to go to school?)
Of course come Saturday morning the kid has no problem popping out of bed at 5:30 or so to examine the Saturday morning cartoon selections.
I feel being awoken from a dead sleep to a little pair of staring eyes staring at you in the dark also begs to be mentioned. If you’ve experienced it? Congratulations, you and your child (most likely) survived. If you haven’t experienced it? Well, good luck with that.
Do you have a night wanderer in your house?

My mother always asks why I let her stay up in her room. I do so because A. How do you force a child to sleep and B. she always gets up in the mornings.
