Working with Suzan Wines, co-founder of I-Beam Design, New York based artist, Melissa Marks dreamed up the concept of their loft apartment reno based on both her son Archie’s love for lego and her own affection for geometric, abstract and primary colors. The result a 1,500-square-foot loft home complete with a 20,000 piece lego staircase and child’s loft bedroom which theme is carried through the rest of the apartment. The lego building process installed by Sean Kenney (one of only five people in the U.S. to undertake such lego building projects like this) took two weeks of fourteen-hour days to complete. The goal of the space was also made to include Marks’ studio which serves as a studio/living dual purpose space. Three 500-pound sliding doors were installed to conceal Marks’s art supplies and desk when she’s not working. See more of the space below the jump.
