25 Fresh Children’s Books Sure to Become Classics
Brag Alert: My kid is a ravenous book-devouring wild thing, with piles upon piles of tattered pages and missing book jackets crumpled in dark crannies beneath overflowing shelves. I totally scored in the kid department, what can I say? While we love the classics (Dr. Seuss just never gets old), I have seen a steady pattern of repeated choices for our nightly pre-bed read-a-thon. I’ve culled our favorites down to a list of 25 newer books that I’m sure will become classics, and I can already picture myself using crazy voices to bring the stories to life with my grandkids (yes, scarlet, I’m already hinting that I want grandkids).
While the books change the messages stay the same, but with slight, modern updates for little tech-bathed brains. The Awesome Book of Thanks by Dallas Clayton is hip and modern (complete with robotic dinosaurs) but captures the age-old lesson, be thankful for what you have. While Blackout, by John Rocco, shows that you can still have a blast (believe it or not) without an iPhone, computer or iPad at hand.
