25 Amazingly Tiny Houses
Some people have chosen to live out their childhood dream in a tree house while others have found a way to keep their life on the road. You couldn’t knock this lifestyle if you tried because they are all saving money, helping the environment and seem to be completely happy (if not happier) with their choice. Although I don’t think I could ever do it (my fabric alone would take up 3/4 of the house) a part of me is very envious of their willingness to downsize. Do you think you could make the big move to a tiny home? Check out these 25 Amazingly Tiny Houses and then decide…

rodentraiser commented on Feb 04 12 at 1:23 amI love these small houses. I build dollhouses, so to me, these are absolutely delightful. I absolutely hate cookie-cutter houses and my biggest peeve right now is the two- or three-car garages always facing the street and dominating our neighborhoods. As far as I’m concerned, any house designed so the garage door is visible from the front is just a common tract house, and I don’t say that in a nice way.
I also love that when you design a small house, you have to be creative in order to get the same amenities of a larger house. I am a house plan addict and it kills me to see the generic house plans offered today: kitchen, eating nook, dining room, living room, family room, three teeny bedrooms, a couple of baths and of course, the two car garage, over and over and over again. The architects are all playing it safe; there is no one pushing the edge of house design today for ordinary people who may only be able to afford stock house plans. And God forbid we try to build small with small appliances. Even when somebody does occasionally scale down, the houses, though cute and serviceable, all look the same and are all built one on top of the other, pushed together so they can be in “communities”. These little houses here are unique. That’s why seeing them brings a smile to my face.
Marcia Thomas commented on Feb 04 12 at 10:08 amThis is an interesting article, but it is probably the poorest presentation I’ve ever seen and is not user friendly. I completely quit after trying to see the first row of pictures.
Jonathan commented on Feb 04 12 at 8:13 pmI like how you’re like “i don’t know if i could do this” to a lot of those beautiful little houses… kinda insulting to the people that worked so hard to make them, no? All i can say is stop being a wuss. You would if you had to. :P

JEFF JONES commented on Mar 02 12 at 4:39 pmCAN YOU SEND ME MORE INFO ON THE IKEA HOUSE AND THE CONTAINER HOUSE?
JW commented on Mar 02 12 at 7:18 pmGot to go with Marcia… The page tries to be too hip and artistic. Nice pix but a real pain to navigate on my 19″ monitor (not mobile). There is no article to go along with the minimal pix info. I too stopped after the viewing the first few slides.
Scrappy T commented on Mar 17 12 at 7:49 pmReminds me of a little place called Itsyville in central California near Salinas. Neat wood work but I don’t think you could actually live in them.
AnchorBayTile commented on Mar 31 12 at 6:29 pmThe architectural world as a result of the green building trend that is gaining steam everyday is starting to stand up and take notice of these smaller footprint homes
