These hairstyles are so beautiful!

Definitely more wearable for most girls.

Heavy, dark, thick hair girls (like myself) often can’t do cute hairstyles because the hair is so heavy!

Being a makeup artist Toronto, I often do hair at photoshoots and I would like to offer some other tips that will aid in keeping the style hold in these hairstyles.

1. put some mousse in dry hair (yes it can be dry, doesn’t have to be damp) and it gives it a good hold.
It keeps the braids from flyaways and even when you pin it, it holds better rather than falling apart

2. for extra hold, you can put in some hairspray after the mousse and before you pin the hair or braid the hair

3. for very layered hair, at the ends it can be quite difficult to pin up so the best tip is to get those small elastic bands in the same colour as your hair or a clear one, wrap it around the edges of the hair and then pin up the hair to the elastic. VOILA!

4. For extra body, volume teasing; you can put quick hot rollers in the hair while you do your makeup and when you’re done getting dressed/ putting on makeup, take them out
it gives the hair a bit of a wave and it can be very romantic rather than just ‘flat’

Enjoy these tips!

Thank you for sharing ;)

I notice a frustrating lack of hairstyles for people who don’t have straight hair, here and anywhere else I happen across. There sure is a disproportion in the ratio of people who say, “Embrace your curly/wavy hair!” and the people who can think of classy, clean, and cute things to do with it once wearing it down gets boring.

That’s so funny you are frustrated that you don’t think these styles will work with your curly hair…. I don’t think most will work because my hair is too straight!! We’re talking stick straight. Like no curling iron or rollerset known to man will make a curl last longer than a half hour straight. Much less hold pretty braids! I gues we all have to modify for what god gave us!
