IKEA for Barbie?
Growing up my sister and I had a Barbie Dream home. How I wish it was still around, I have such fond memories of it. It was mid-century-esque, a hand-me-down from some neighbors who were moving away. It had large sliding patio doors, a really cool kitchen and for some reason – everything seemed to be pink. Or maybe it was the rose colored glasses I had on. I haven’t seen anything like it since, not until now that is.
Polish design firm, Miniio has created this eco-friendly version of a modern mid-century home for Barbie (Blythe and other fashion dolls) inspired by IKEA. Founded by modern moms with artistic backgrounds, their aim is to provide children with toys that can help develop their creativeness and aesthetic sensitivity. Each piece from the house itself, to the fabric on the furniture, has been carefully handmade using local Polish talent and materials. The plywood comes from responsibly managed woods to be sure not to damage the environment.
Prices start at $120 for a single dollhouse, up to $220 for the full complete two level dollhouse with furniture. Available through their site, miniio.com. See a few adorable slides below. (Via Curbly).
