AnimalCrossing Animal Crossing: A Video Game My Toddler and I Love Equally

What does a thirty-year-old woman and a two-year-old little girl have in common? A love of Animal Crossing: City Folk. I used to play video games somewhat regularly before I had kids, back when I actually had time to, but not lately. Recently, I pulled out Animal Crossing for the Wii, and my toddler was entranced! The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the game is really just a collection of a toddler’s favorite things…

There’s also balloons, bubbles, pinwheels, flowers, reading, dinosaur fossils, playing dress-up, and a bus ride. The more I think about it, the more I wonder why I’m the one that loved it so much in the first place, but I don’t think I’m alone. Nintendo had a huge hit with the game among ladies in their twenties and thirties! And it’s great for kids too because it’s very slow-paced, without any crazy flashing action, and certainly no violence. mableAndSable Animal Crossing: A Video Game My Toddler and I Love Equally

Animal Crossing: City Folk has been out for the Wii since 2008, so if you don’t have a copy already, you can pick one up for less than $20. Sure, pick it up for your kids, but I have a hunch you’ll enjoy it too. (Did I mention the interior decorating goals? Super fun.)

Hello Nicole, how lovely that you are writing about one of my favorite games :) I have been “in love” with this game for a few years and even made a Dutch website about the game (for Nintendo DS). It’s now the largest fansite of The Netherlands :) And, yes you can decorate your own house and design your own clothing. Haven’t played it for a few years, maybe I will play again after reading your blog :) You can check out my AC site here: http://www.animal-crossing.nl Greetings from Holland, Archana

I loved animal crossing on DS. I will have to try it out with my little one on Wii. She is three, she would probably love it!

I haven’t been to my AC house for like 2 years. I’m afraid of what I will find (besides the cockroaches!). Yikes!
