An Affordable Classic
This Merona swimsuit at Target rings in at $34.99. Can't beat that price for this retro style.

NOTE: Yes, most of these are on swimsuit models. But look at the cut and features of the swimsuits (i.e. control-top fabric, ruched spandex, skirted bottoms, etc.), not the body that they’re on.

I’m sorry but for real these do Not look like a post baby swim suit. I don’t know anyone who would be shopping in the VS after having a baby.

Brenda commented on Jun 17 11 at 11:35 am

@Brenda: Really? I had a baby two years ago and the Victoria’s Secret ones are the most flattering on my body. They have push-up cups, ruching for tummy hiding and control-top fabric. By post-baby, it could be two, three, five years down the road. Some women are lucky enough to only have some stretch marks they want to hide.

michellehorton commented on Jun 17 11 at 11:55 am

As usual it’s hard to tell what these would look like on someone who is a size 10 or 12 vs. a model with airbrushing.

Sarah myers commented on Jun 17 11 at 12:16 pm

@Sarah: Yes, I know. Unfortunately swimsuit models are swimsuit models for a reason. I tried to pick bathing suits that all have features like tummy ruching, push-ups, attached skirts and control-top fabric to help shape imperfect bodies. Unfortunately they’re all on perfect bodies. But not all post-baby bodies are equal, and we all have different trouble spots (whether it’s extra stomach skin, stretch marks, deflated breasts, etc.).

Michelle, IMO, you need to check out Norma Kamali. The $98 Bill is amazing!

LOL…As if any of these girls in the pics have had children….

Kate commented on Jun 17 11 at 1:44 pm

@Melissa: LOVE it!

@Kate: It’s not about the women wearing the bathing suits (they’re MODELS), it’s about the design and structure of the swimsuits.

michellehorton commented on Jun 17 11 at 1:48 pm

Michelle you are right it is not about the models it is about the suits. I guess I’m just bitter from still having most of my baby wait on 9 months later! For the women just trying to hide stretch marks in the tummy these suits would be great, but for the rest of us trying to hide almost all of it these will not do. That being said I respect the hard work you put into putting this article together. Thank you.

Brenda commented on Jun 17 11 at 3:50 pm

@Brenda: Thank you, Brenda. I actually added in some plus-size suits at the end because I agree that the pictures are a bit deceiving. And my original thinking for “post-baby” was years after having a baby, not just months, so I understand some “post-baby” moms are still losing the baby weight!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’m 38 years old and just gave birth to my FOURTH baby. Seriously, I was just trying to find swimsuits in these EXACT styles and you did all the work for me! All you guys bitching about the models need to get a grip. I have realized that if you are willing to do the footwork, there is ALWAYS something out there that will fit your body and make you feel great! Thanks again!

THANK YOU! You rock.

michellehorton commented on Jun 18 11 at 7:11 pm

These are great! Really fabulous cuts, stylings, fabrics, for boosting body confidence. I can’t decide which of the retro inspired ones I like best. Maybe yellow polka dots. That is a sweet suit!

Shouldn’t there be more choices? I created Swim Shells – fun, sporty cover ups that you can keep on IN THE WATER – they’re made of swimsuit fabric, so we can swim, relax, the fabric dries fast and we can quit obsessing. Nothing is more beautiful than a mom with a happy smile. Check out http://www.swimshells.com and relax and enjoy your blessings. Hope this helps.
