The Coolest Stainless Steel Lunch Boxes
I’m a sucker for anything stainless steel and these lunch boxes are no exception. Planetbox sells this compartmentalized, sleek and updated version of the plastic pail. They’re more eco-friendly than both plastic and brown bags and amazingly sturdy, so they’ll last forever.
All the photos they feature on their site are inspiring me to make some great lunches! I think today I’ll be having some yogurt, fresh fruit and granola. : )

Am I just being cheap, or does that seem like a lot for a lunch box?

I will add though, I did not buy it for my first grader as she does not eat as much. If you have a little one who doesn’t eat much, wait until they are a little older. Get a sassy box or lock & lock instead. But for my fifth grader–fabulous. Easily washable, durable, and I love the extra containers. I not only love the look, but I also prefer not to store my children’s food in plastics. Before I dropped the money on this box, I’ve been wanting to read user reviews. In the meantime, we’ve been using the stainless steel Kids Konserve containers with silicone lids. We LOVE them!
Abby commented on Jun 17 11 at 8:58 amI love these lunch boxes as well!! I finally broke down and bought both of my kids a box (we didn’t buy the bowls) and I LOVE them!! I love not using a bunch of plastic bags or using multiple little containers. It’s a little annoying to wash the box every evening, but so worth it.

Kariane commented on Jun 17 11 at 1:33 pmI got one for my daughter last year when she started kindergarten. It’s lovely! However, I do agree with Amy, as it is not for the light eater. I decided to go back to my lock n locks until she’s eating more. Another slight con is that by the time you pack it with an ice pack and a thermos, it gets very heavy. Again, no big deal for an older kid, but it makes a little kid backpack pretty heavy. Outside of that, it’s a great lunch box. The metal is food grade stainless steel, like the water bottles everyone is drinking out of now. Their website is great, answering any possible questions/concerns you may have. $$$ yes, but worthwhile because it’s so heavy duty and cleans beautifully. It was fun to think of new ways tonfill all the spots and create super cute lunches! FYI, they go on sale around Christmas time.

If you have a light eater, just pop a note in one of the empty compartments or just put a few in each section. I could fit a heartshaped sandwich in the big compartment. It does get heavy, but so does a regular lunch box with ice pack and water bottle. We got the magnets but didn’t use them much. Can’t say enough goodness about this. We got the extra containers, we don’t use the large one often, but the little one goes almost every day. I either put hummus, dipping sauce or yogurt in it. Easy enough for little hands to open the lids, too. It just makes lunch so much more appealing, too. Such pretty little lunches when you open up the lid. My daughter eats twice as much out of this lunchbox!

They are WELL worth the price – I never throw any bags in the landfill, no trees are cut down to wrap food, no plastics go into my kids bloodstream and they INSPIRE you to break out of the pbj and an apple mode and make lunch fun for your kids! Melissa L commented on Jun 20 11 at 5:00 pmI decided to splurge and get it for my son, who is going to camp this summer & kindergarten this fall. Believe me, the price tag made me gasp and I can’t believe I considered it enough to seek out reviews. But my son has food allergies, and I will be packing his lunch for several years. He’s a picky eater, and I’m a reluctant (lazy even) cook. I think having all the open compartments will be a great reminder to pack a variety of foods and kid-sized portions, and hopefully make him remember to eat a little of everything! Plus, I showed him a couple of styles of lunch boxes and he liked this one the best. Hope we’ll be happy with it!
