Oh, and my kids have never climbed on them, having them facing out makes them inviting!
Hannah commented on Jun 15 11 at 7:02 pmdoing a Dr Seuss room for my three kids. I have a space I want to make into a book nook. One wall is 32 inches wide the adjoing wall is 28.5 inches wide. I love some of the ideas here. Should the shelving match my meeting each other or have stair case so to speak shelves? Would it be wrong to paint the different colors to match the dr Seuss colors. I have 2 girls and one boy on the way. Looking for ideas that are going to last a while as when we move in a couple of years I can take the stuff with me.
michellehorton commented on Jun 18 11 at 2:00 pm@Kerri: It’s kind of our job to find cool things and broadcast them. I’m sure there’s no shortage of cool ideas you could come up with on your own. And I still think the IKEA spice racks are genius, no matter how many people use them.
Hannah commented on Jun 25 11 at 5:01 pmI wish I had an Ikea store that wasn’t two hours away just to get the darn spice racks to use as bookshelves in my kids room. I went to a thrift store today looking for some. I don’t even care if they match in color or size.
Brigitte commented on Jan 17 12 at 2:14 pmI drove 30 miles each way to Ikea just to get the picture ledges. I use them to store my ribbon spools in my craft room. They hold the standard spools just fine. They stand upright and don’t fall. It’s so much easier than the dowels type storage, which I retired after rerolling ribbon one too many times. The ledges are also useful for the my little bottles of acrylic paint and all sorts of small crafty tools that I want to have within arm’s reach. Love them, and was super bummed that they were out of stock. Then I found a tutorial to make them on http://www.ana-white.com. I think I’ll try one and see if I can get the paint finish to look nice. Now if only it will stop snowing so I can go to Home Depot!
I love that tree bookshelf! I might consider making that if I can find a place to put it…my kids’ playroom is the living room & dining room which has wainscotting and no flat walls. I don’t want to nail into that anyway because I’ll surely ruin it.
