I want one of these necklaces to wear for myself, but I can also see it as a really special gift for an older girl. Celebrating a birthday, graduation, or an accomplishment like getting her work into an art show, or being recognized for writing… wouldn’t this be a sweet way to commemorate that?

The pencil shaving necklaces are handmade out of silver by Australian designer Victoria Mason, and they’re available at Oye Modern.

I’ve always thought pencil shavings had fabulous shape. I remember trying to give a friend some of my prettier ones… Mom gently mentioned they might not be properly appreciated. :-)
