Baby Feet Wraps: Fantastic or Freakish?

Ladies, I need to know what you think of a new product I recently spotted at the pre-oscars Baby Boom Boom Room gifting suite. There’s no denying it’s unique, but is it necessary? The product is an alternative to shoes for young babies. We all know that shoes can feel pretty clunky and useless for a newborn, but I (maybe naively?) believed newborn socks were sufficient (I mean, they do a decent job of keeping baby’s feet warm and covered, what more do you need?). To me, this product seems like a decorative touch, maybe unnecessary for a squishy new baby?  I think we can all agree that teensy newborn baby feet are pretty much the pinnacle of cuteness, do you think this product adds anything? Or does it seem maybe a little silly?  Or is it no different than outfitting our newborns in pouffy dresses and pom pom hats? I’m not making a call yet, I want to hear from some Babble mamas. Find out what this new product is called, where to buy it, and see more pictures of ‘em after the jump…

Behold Toe Blooms…

Baby Feet Wraps: Fantastic or Freakish?

Baby Feet Wraps: Fantastic or Freakish?

Toe Blooms come in two styles – Blooming Toes and Blooming Wraps, each offering various materials, colors, and embellishments.  Blooming Wraps wrap around baby’s feet with decorative floral and ruffle touches, while toe blooms wrap around baby’s ankle and extend around the big toe. Check out the entire line at toeblooms.com and let us know what you think of them in the comments. Seriously, I need to know what you think.

Well, my baby liked to put her feet in her mouth so they’d probably just end up all slobbery. I think I’ll stick with socks. :)

Katie commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:04 pm

I think they are cute but not something that is needed by any means. I think I like the toe blooms more than the wraps. They aren’t something I would purchase for my child though.

I have a 7 month old baby girl, and as far as getting her a pair to wear all the time… I don’t think so. They might be great for a photo shoot or event, but are not really practical for me. I think that like all things in life, they have their time and place. :o)

Megan Torres commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:14 pm

LOVE them!!

Jen Pelto commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:21 pm

Honestly? They’re no more superficial than any other “fancy” clothing or accessories I’ve seen people use to dress up babies for professional photos. While not practical at all, they’re just like a bow on the head or a fancy headband or hat, or maybe even “prop.” Do they need those fancy accessories or props and are they going to wear them a lot? No, but they make for a cute picture. And seeing as how in some climates, socks are totally out of the question (especially in the summer months), I can see these being a cute way to “dress up” bare feet for spring or summer or even formal/wedding type photos without dealing with socks that are too hot or wrinkly.

Lesley commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:34 pm

My kiddo never ever kept his socks on…. I cannot imagine any child keeping those on their tootsies. It would tickle and itch and they just look silly.

Heather commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:44 pm

I think they are cute for special occasions. Like photographer props and fancy dress situations. But otherwise impractical! Imagine the choking hazard for a baby who has discovered their feet! Plus what boy options are there? I’m pro naked baby feet or cute socks instead

Danielle H commented on Mar 18 11 at 8:48 pm

They are cute but are about as necessary as the little headbands that people put on babies with no hair to hold back. I could see it for a special photo but other than that… they can’t crawl in them and I would worry about them grabbing them and maybe pulling a piece off.

Vicky Haynes commented on Mar 18 11 at 9:25 pm

I only have boys but I think those r super cute!

Ivy commented on Mar 18 11 at 9:44 pm

Cute

Tricia T commented on Mar 18 11 at 9:58 pm

I think they’re ridiculous, but if someone likes them, whatevs. I feel the same about those enormous bows that some people love. I will mention, however, that my five year old daughter was looking over my shoulder as I was scrolling down this post and her comments were, “Ooooh! So cute! That’s beautiful. And that’s even MORE beautiful.” haha!

Sheriece commented on Mar 18 11 at 10:00 pm

I think they’re adorable!

Rose commented on Mar 18 11 at 11:07 pm

I wouldn’t put them on my kids for everyday life, but I think they’d be cute for something like a 2-year-old flower girl in an outdoor wedding, in lieu of shoes.

Katie commented on Mar 19 11 at 2:27 am

We all fall in love with certain lovable story book characters, such as Peter Rabbit or Snoopy. Winnie the Pooh is a favorite of almost any baby, and the bedding and furnishings are available to create a classic Pooh crib. Find Snoopy curled up under a friendly moon and starts. Or opt for a variety of Disney characters, such as Mickey Mouse. Furnishings with rhymes always lead to hilarity and enjoyment and can be a fun baby nursery idea.

the blooming toes look as if they would really irritate, the blooming wraps look cute but as you say, no cuter than a babys bare foot, maybe fore a special occasion.

didi fraser commented on Mar 19 11 at 3:29 pm

Super cute! I’d get them for my daughter!

Stephanie commented on Mar 19 11 at 10:38 pm

totally love them!! <3

dana commented on Mar 20 11 at 12:38 am

I loooove loooove loooove this! Def would get them for my lil princess!!

Paulina commented on Mar 20 11 at 12:47 am

They look ridiculous! Not to mention uncomfortable. I wouldnt want anything just sitting between my toes, I cant imagine my infant or toddler daughters would want it either.

Christi commented on Mar 20 11 at 12:48 am

super cute! :) perfect for photo sessions! I doubt I’d replace these for shoes/socks though…

Jackie commented on Mar 20 11 at 1:01 am

these are so cute! a great way to add a dressy feel for your baby girl without breaking the bank! as for christis comment suppose shes never in her life worn sandles or flip-flops because they are uncomfortable and ridiculous. really tell me what toddler isnt amazed with their own feet and toes? the wraps give them something to focus on and play with (that looks pretty as well as functional). id buy them for my granddaughter cause fancy sparkly and big girl stuff to match her mommy and her “honey” thats me are her favorite, shell be 2 in may.

BEVERLY CLARK commented on Mar 20 11 at 1:06 am

I don’t have a little girl but, I really like the ones that cover the ankle and heel – not so much on the “thong” style. These would be great for pictures.

Valerie commented on Mar 20 11 at 1:09 am

I think they are cute but only to take pictures with. I wouldn’t put them on her feet all the time

leeanna commented on Mar 20 11 at 2:07 am

I agree…not everyday wear, but for a special occasion paired with one of those poufy dresses and a big flower or bow on yhe head or just for fancy photo shoots paired with a sweet diaper cover….

Not a necessity, but why not?

kearsten commented on Mar 20 11 at 3:31 am

weird!! my kid would never leave them on!!

Meghan commented on Mar 20 11 at 5:04 pm

I think they are super cute, but, would I buy them…not likely…a little to uncomfortable looking.

Crystal commented on Mar 20 11 at 5:17 pm

Very cute, would love them for my DD as a photo prop. I love dressing her up while she’s so young!

michelle commented on Mar 20 11 at 5:42 pm

The most unnecessary clothing item I’ve seen for a baby yet. Also looks completely impractical and possibly a choking hazard. That said, a few of the less gaudy ones might be cute for photos or a wedding type situation as some have mentioned. Many of them just look like a $25 scrunchie wrapped around a baby’s foot.

WildernessBarbie commented on Mar 20 11 at 7:13 pm

I absolutely love them! What is so freakish about it??? It’s an accessory to what they are wearing.. Some babies have fat feat and are not going to fit into those slim shoes that are made otherwise you are paying a good price for them to grow out of these shoes in a month or two. I think these are a great idea. Thank you for posting this!!! Keep on stumbling upon!

Mae Roberts commented on Mar 21 11 at 7:04 am

I love them and I am going to make some for my granddaughter to take pictures in.

Jenifer Payne commented on Mar 21 11 at 8:51 am

I think they are very cute & would be great for special occassions & pictures. I like the wraps better than the ones that go around the toe. It might seem uncomfortable for them. If that’s the case, my daughter would pull it off her toe.

Stefani commented on Mar 21 11 at 9:32 pm

I don’t have a little girl. But if I did I would buy them. I really thank they are cute. I think anyone who thinks they are for everyday wear is not thinking at all. There are a lot of things that we buy our children that are not meant for everyday wear. My son is 5 months and I buy certain things for him to wear for certain occasions. I think that they are nice for a nice hot summer day, when you really don’t want to pur them on sandals or socks and shoes. I live in Atlanta Georgia. It’s hot already!! Today it will be 81 degrees. With that said if I had a little girl and we were going on a stroll or to church or even to grandmas I think that the Toe Blooms would look so cute with a summer dress. Just like pp said its no different from the huge bows or socks with ruffles.

Kim commented on Mar 22 11 at 10:23 am

I think they’re cute but agree that they’re a little like headbands, unnecessary. I really DON’T like the ones with the toe hole thing though EW!

Henrietta commented on Mar 29 11 at 2:30 pm

Ok everyone, I heard about ToeBlooms a little while ago and I have a couple pairs . I have a 5 month year old baby girl. I didn’t think I would be one to dress her up but I put them on her all the time! Neither style bother her feet. They are meant to be an accessory. They are so cute with bare feet with their little toes, but when it is chilly out I just slip the “wrap” style over socks. They still look great over the socks and I have found that the socks stay on all day! Most people comment that they would only wear them for photo shoots…. while they do photograph amazing, you might be surprised at how often you want to put them on with your daughters cute outfit!! I give it a thumbs up:)
the site has so many different cute styles and for those worried about choking, there is info about it the site too.

Carrie commented on Apr 02 11 at 12:11 am

Oh give me a break! They’re no less practical than are earrings, lace, bows, necklaces, bracelets, etc.. They are adornments and I personally love them!

Karen commented on Oct 14 11 at 5:07 pm

I love those shoes r sooooo cute I made some pairs for my 5 months girl, when she wear the shoes everybody loves them, babys look so geargerous, don’t freak about it, its just an accessory
