PKFFBORG 2 300x300 Pkolino Convertible Toddler Bed Stylish and AffordableToddler beds can be a tricky purchase, because while you want to buy something attractive and well-made, it’s hard to justify spending much money on a bed your child will outgrow by the time he or she is five. For parents looking for that sweet spot where high-quality meets good value, the P’kolino Toddler Bed is a fantastic solution. It’s a stylish bed that will appeal to parents’ tastes but is still bright and fun, because after all, it’s a kid’s bed. At the same time, it’s a solid and durable piece, but at $250, it comes with a much lower price tag than comparably made beds.

Adding to its value, when your child has outgrown it as a bed, it converts easily into a comfy reading chair. This is also a great feature for parents who are planning to have more than one child, but don’t have room in the attic for a bed while they wait for their second kid to outgrow the crib. And since it fits a standard crib mattress, it saves the expense of buying a toddler mattress.

Functionally, the P’kolino is exceptional. It’s low enough that it’s simple for a toddler to climb in and out of. The guards on the sides are big enough that it’s hard to imagine a child falling out of it and they give the bed a cozy, sheltering feel. The clear finish is easy to clean. And the solid wood construction is extremely sturdy, making it well-suited to the age group the bed serves.

On the downside, it does take some time to assemble. I missed the first half of a college basketball game putting it together–about an hour (Don’t worry, my team still won.). However, the assembly is just a one time event and converting to a chair is simple once you’ve put it together. The headboard is a bit low, and I’d prefer that it were as high as the guard rails–toddlers are such active sleepers, and it’s easy for the pillow to be pushed out of the bed. But for a bed of this quality at this price, complaining about assembly time and the headboard just seems like nitpicking.
