Fat Tuesday for Kids? 5 Best Mardi Gras Products
While there is, of course, a religious basis to Fat Tuesday, the U.S. Mardi Gras celebration has become more about parties and get-togethers — beads and masks — which naturally leads to the classic tradition of eating rich, fatty foods to prepare for Lent. (Where there’s alcohol, there’s fatty foods.)
But regardless of “Fat Tuesday,” some families are just really into celebrating Mardi Gras — whether they travel down to New Orleans or have a big party at home. And while Mardi Gras isn’t always appropriate for kids, there are more family-friendly celebrations popping up.
Here are 5 ways to get kids into the Mardi Gras spirit:
These Mardi Gras Fleur de Lis felt hair clips will look pretty year-round. ($3 from Blueberry Jam Boutique.)
Bourban Street mask from Artisan Maskers, $18
Make cookies with these fun Mardi Gras cookie cutter set, $25 from Fleurty Girl.
What little girl doesn’t love tutus and beads? (Get this Mardi Gras Tutu, $30, from Sassy Pants.)
And MomDot has a fun Mardi Gras craft idea for kids, which you can see here.
