I love the look of kimono tops for babies. They’re cozy. Easy to put on, and they give a more interesting aspect to a simple outfit than a standard onesie. These kimono wraps from Moon! and Sparrow are especially adorable. There are versions with an alligator, a fox and a sweet sprinkling of hearts (see below).

What a fun gift these would make. So charming, and so different than other baby wear out there.

One apparent disadvantage of kimonos versus onesies: they’re shirts, so squirming and rolling and crawling baby will wriggle out of the tucks you’ve made into pants/skirts/shorts and show diaper wings. Unless you’ve got gorgeous diapers that you want to show off, it means cold torso for baby and unkempt baby.

Unless kimonos come in ultra long form, like a dress. While manuevering pants around wriggles after a diaper change, I was just wishing last week that we could go back to dressing babies all in white nightgowns. The look is cute, but is the function just as good?
