Cloth diapers (or nappies) often get a bad rep for being messy, difficult and “icky,” but us cloth diapering moms know the real deal. For some of us, it’s the environmental aspect of cloth diapering (considering each disposable diaper sits in a landfill for 500 years), and for others it’s the health aspect (no chemicals and plastic constantly on baby’s skin). And of course you have to factor in the economics, considering cloth diapers save thousands of dollars in the long-run.

But the biggest reason that moms choose cloth is because they really aren’t that difficult. Sure cloth isn’t for everyone, but if you’re even a little curious about a more natural diapering system, there are an endless number of options to try. These Tots Bots Easy Fits (distributed by Bummis) are my all-time favorite cloth diapers because of the extra-absorbent and super-soft bamboo lining, exceptional fit and easy wash-and-dry cycle. The unique feature of the Easy Fits is that they’re a pocket diaper — making them more absorbent and customizable — but the stuff-able insert is sewn on, so they function like an all-in-one. The best part is that you don’t have to unstuff the pocket before throwing them in the wash — making them completely mess-free for parents with a weak gag reflex.

GroVia diapers are my favorite traditional all-in-one diapers — meaning that there’s nothing to stuff, snap or fold. You just put them on and take them off just as you would a disposable diaper, but you throw them in the washing machine instead of the garbage. These bumGenius Elemental One-Size All-in-One Artist Series diapers are — by far — the most stylish cloth diapers we’ve ever seen. Designed by artist Chelsea Perry, they’re simply the most stylish statement for little tushes. Beyond how they look, they also happen to be one of my favorite diapers. They fit great — especially for bigger babies who can’t get a good fit on GroVia — and the one-size design makes them one of the easiest to use.
