5 Favorite IKEA Hacks: IKEA Like You’ve Never Seen
Have you seen the Web site IKEA Hackers? Where they feature brilliant ways people “hack” IKEA products into brand new pieces of furniture?
Beyond just that Web site, we keep seeing all of these innovative, interesting ways to transform some of our favorite IKEA items all over the Internet. (And you know how we love IKEA here at Family Style.)
Join us in marveling at these genius IKEA hacks. Hopefully it will inspire you to think out-of-the-box next time you’re browsing their warehouse:
We found this first Edland dressing table-turned-sink over at IKEA Hackers, where they provide information on how it was done.
They featured another version of the Edland sink here.
I saw this Expedit bookcase-turned-dresser over at Little. Lovely., and I absolutely fell in love. Not only with the IKEA hack, but with the entire pink and grey nursery. The bookcase was turned on it’s side, and drawers, pink knobs and legs were added. (The nursery is from Cape 27, a beautiful new blog I just discovered!)
I saw this Ikea-hacked ride-on toy over at Ohdeedoh, but the original design is by Sam Johnson of Ten-Plan. Sam provides downloadable instructions here.
This was one of Ikea Hackers best hacks of 2010, and we can see why. This innovative family converted a BJURSTA dining table into the ultimate twin highchair. We especially love that the seats can be taken out and turned either way:
So smart! See the entire tutorial here.

5 Favorite IKEA Hacks: IKEA Like You’ve Never Seen – Babble (blog)- GOOD IKEA commented on Feb 09 11 at 8:55 pm[...] The IKEA Expedit is next on our “to-buy” list because of it’s incredible versatility: We’ll use it to display and store Noah’s toys now (think cubbies) and then expand it into a bookshelf that he can use, honestly, his entire life. You can even build on the set, starting with one column of bookshelves and then expanding to an entire bookshelf wall. Love the clean look and attractive price point. You can even turn an Expedit bookshelf into a dresser! [...]
