A couple years ago when I was in Sweden during the winter, I noticed that everyday people would light lanterns. There were lanterns outside shops, on front porches, on balconies and inside too on tables and mantles. The pretty light cheered up what could otherwise be a depressing season. If you have kids and are worried about fire safety, lanterns are a great alternative to candles and can really make your home feel cozy during these dark months! Lanterns also look super pretty in the snow!
